This morning the TODAY show had a segment on regarding a resort with Accessible Accommodation.
You can imagine how excited I was when I heard this accommodation was available within Australia.

The lucky state is NSW and the suburb is Collaroy which is on the beach, only to find out that accommodation is only for people who have a Spinal Injury! Therefore, if you have a disability such as mine Spinal Muscular Atrophy you do NOT meet the criteria to stay there.

Now if that's not discrimination at it's best, I don't know what is.

Accommodation All rooms are fully accessible and equipped with ceiling hoist capacity. The deluxe Pressalit fitted bathroom provides options for height adjustable rails, back rest and shower-seat. Each room also contains a kitchenette with a height adjustable sink/benchtop/stove. Bookings available…

THIS post has nothing to do with HOTELS however I feel it is necessary to share and go viral as the life of a person who has a disability matters too.

This video is so important for able-bodied people to watch, please could you take some time out of their own life and watch this video by Ben Keely.

Ben is a gentleman with a serve disability (like me) and thought by going into Residential Care he could live an independent, happy and health life.
You will see by watching this video what Residential Care can do to someone’s self a steam, soul and family.

Honestly, this topic terrifies me :(
I prayer everyday that I wake-up and my life will be just like yesterday.
I would rather take my own life then suffer how Ben did.

Today I meet with Nick and Mel from in Nunawading to discuss the possibility of working together on a proposal to lobby the Victorian Government and the Australian Hotels Association to place a ceiling hoist in a least on Disabled Room in each Hotel within Australia.

28/01/2016

I have been invited to attend the office in Nunawading for Morning Tea and a chat about my Plight.

I am really excited and thank HLS Healthcare for the opportunity.

As I explained to HLS Healthcare this plight was my challenge for 2016, I am determined to make a difference. It may take some time but who knows maybe together we can make a difference.
