If you’re tired of sneezing fits, itchy eyes, and feeling like your nose is staging a revolt every spring (or year-round!), you’re not alone. Hayfever can seriously mess with your day.
But here’s something you might not have tried: acupuncture.

Yep, those tiny needles aren’t just for back pain and stress relief. More and more people are turning to acupuncture to help ease hayfever symptoms — and for good reason. It’s all about calming the immune system, reducing inflammation, and helping your body find its balance again.

No side effects like drowsiness, and it can even help reduce your dependence on antihistamines over time. Plus, a good session can leave you feeling super relaxed — bonus!
So if you're looking for a natural way to breathe easier this allergy season, acupuncture might be worth a shot (well… a gentle needle 😉).

Ever tried it for hayfever? Drop your experience below or shoot me a message if you're curious!

At AcuHealth Therapies, Chinese herbal medicine is an integral part of our holistic approach to wellness. Used in conjunction with acupuncture or independently, our herbal remedies support and optimise your body's natural healing process.

One such herb, Bai Jiao Hui Xiang (commonly known as Star Anise) pictured above, is known for its warming properties and ability to expel cold from the body. It may be particularly effective for conditions such as back pain, abdominal discomfort, and vomiting.

As always, we recommend consulting with a professional TCM practitioner for personalized guidance.

I'm getting an increasing number of enquiries about when is the best time to have acupuncture during pregnancy?

It all depends on how you are feeling and what stage of your pregnancy you are at.

First trimester acupuncture treatments commonly focus on early pregnancy signs and symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stress, low energy levels. Also, acupuncture can be used to reduce the risks of miscarriage.

Second trimester acupuncture treatments are less often and generally only occur if there are certain concerns that Dr Sharlane needs to address. Monthly or six weekly appointments are recommended if the expectant mother is feeling well.

Third trimester acupuncture treatments focus on birth preparation. At around 32-34 weeks, Dr Sharlane advises weekly acupuncture to prepare you physically and emotionally forbirth and to promote spontaneous labour.

Acupuncture isn't one size fits all. It's all about tailoring treatments to fit your unique needs. Each session is designed to balance your body's energy and help you naturally.

Find out how a customised approach to acupuncture can support your pregnancy journey.
