UT Southwestern Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship

PAS 2026 was one for the books! With more than half of our fellows presenting, the UTSW NICU representation was prominent in Boston this past weekend. Among 9 fellows, we had 2 platform presentations and 12 posters giving a glimpse into the strong research/QI groundwork at our institution.
In total, our entire division, including students, nurses, NNPs, residents, fellows and faculty, contributed to over 50 presentations/sessions this year.

Last week UTSW hosted Neonatal Brain Matters Symposium to shed insight into all things NeuroNICU! 🧠 Trainees, faculty, nursing and APPs together all participated in this exciting workshop!

Last week’s APLUS Conference here at UT Southwestern was a tremendous success! 🥳 From inspiring lectures to hands-on simulation labs and APlus Stars Competition, our NICU team—and all of our dedicated guest speakers—came together to deepen our knowledge of lung- and brain-protective respiratory strategies for extremely preterm infants.

A heartfelt thank you to every neonatologist, fellow, nurse, APP, respiratory therapist, and team member who made this day of learning possible. Your passion, expertise, and teamwork are what drive innovation in neonatal care. Here’s to translating everything we learned into even better outcomes for our tiniest patients 👶🏻🧠🫁

Surgical Necrotizing Enterocolitis is a devastating illness in preterm infants with mortality as high as 50%. Here is the full text access to virw-only version of our paper showing the impact of severity and progression of fetal inflammatory response on severity of NEC:
