When we talk about sensory processing issues, it's often not just a simple disliking of textures or sounds - it can actually be a lot more complex.

This post provides some examples of things neurodivergent people may be sensitive to, or prone to because of their sensory processing issues. Also, not every child may have each one of these.

Given the unique nature of how neurodiversity manifests itself within each person, it's important that caregivers pay attention to how their child responds to different stimuli and provide accommodations where necessary!

IMPORTANT DEFINITION ‼️ - Allistic

If you find yourself in a conversation with an autistic person, please remember to refer to their non-autistic peers as allistic, instead of “normal” or “typical”. The words “normal” and “typical” create a biased reference point in people’s minds that incorrectly imposes societal constructs of that definition on autistic people.
