Two classic car groups rolled into our homes in Thornton Park and Parkes for Father’s Day recently!

The joy, nostalgia, and stories shared around these timeless classics made for a truly special celebration.

Thank you to the car enthusiasts in our communities from Parkes Antique Motor Club & HD HR Holden Car Club NSW who brought smiles, memories, and a whole lot of horsepower to our homes.

Today is R U OK? Day. An important reminder to stay connected and make asking ‘are you OK?’ part of your everyday.
We want everyone in our community, from our team, delivering care each day, to those who interact and enrich our communities across NSW & ACT, to feel they can talk about how they’re really feeling and access support if they need it.

Remember, you don’t need to be an expert to have an R U OK? conversation.
Listening and giving someone your time might be just what someone needs to help them through and take the first step in seeking support.

R U OK? have developed resources that provide simple tips to help you
download them from ruok.org.au. If you, or someone you know, needs immediate support, Lifeline are available 24/7 on 13 11 14 and other services can be found at ruok.org.au/findhelp

Father's Day is a special moment to pause and reflect on the incredible impact of fathers and father figures in our community. We also acknowledge those who find today challenging.

We invite you to share your favourite memories and thanks below 💬

We’ve heard many incredible stories across our communities and teams in the lead up to todays celebrations. One of those is Michael from our Tweed Heads home. With five children, 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild, his family can’t praise him enough for the enormous impact he has had on their lives.

“Pa has always been so generous and caring to us, my favourite memory is driving around in his limo thinking we were superstars and hearing all the stories from him!” - Granddaughter Tia

“From lining up five pairs of polished school shoes before sunrise to handing the garbage man a Christmas gift at 4am, Dad’s life has been a vibrant story of generosity, resilience, and unconditional love, a true giver whose quiet acts of kindness and bold spirit have shaped every memory and taught us the pure art of giving unconditionally.” - Daughter Claire

“My life has turned out the way it has because of the person you let me and taught me to be. When I speak with anyone about my parents, I do so with glowing pride. You’re my best man and best mate and thanks for being the best Dad.” - Son Mark

Retirement is an exciting time, but it’s also one of the biggest changes in a lifetime.

As we approach R U OK? Day, it’s an important time to be reminded that staying connected matters, especially when life changes. Read Geoff’s story below about how a weekly boxing group has become a vital time for connection, conversation, and support: https://www.ruok.org.au/chit-chat-lh-geoff

For Steve Kloos, working at Southern Cross Care Caves Beach is more than a job.
A lifelong local, Steve now cares for the people who once cared for him.
“I grew up with their kids, saw them in shops and at games. Now I get to give back to those who helped raise me.”

A Clay Crafternoon in Corowa.
Residents at our Karinya home recently spent the afternoon learning to create with air-dry clay together. Elements of nature, such as leaves and flowers, were imprinted into the clay to create textured bowls and trinkets. The calming activity was the perfect space to connect, relax, and laugh together.

Our homes recently joined Guide Healthcare's Tour De Guide, a cross-site cycling event like no other.

Over 3 weeks, 870 participants pedaled through more than 4,800 km, showing what movement with meaning truly looks like.

Thanks to the power of community and thoughtful programs, our teams continue to empower older adults to stay active, connected, and inspired.

Congratulations to Tweed Heads for taking first place, with Thornton Park close behind. Shoutout to Banora Point (5th), Merrylands (8th), and Cootamundra (9th) for making the top 10.

A special mention to Olive from Tweed Heads at 101-years-old, she cycled an incredible 201 km.
