Kosi to Coast for Chemo Kids is a charity bike ride organised for the 11th to the 15th of January 2012 to support the Leukaemia Research and Support Fund of The Children's Hospital at Westmead. We will be riding from the top of Mt Kosciuszko to the beach at Bateman's Bay over five days; stopping at local pubs, camping and generally having a great time for a great cause.

What are we riding for? Every year 4800 people in Australia will be diagnosed with Leukaemia and in 2007 alone 2489 people died from this disease. Much like any illness, never is it more devastating than when it takes away the life of a child. On top of this enormous human tragedy, it also causes massive emotional hardship for the family involved. All donations raised will go to the Leukemia Research and Support Fund of The Children's Hospital at Westmead. Treatments for Leukaemia, such as chemotherapy, are highly invasive and personally draining. What the Leukemia Research and Support Fund tries to achieve is to help make sure that the children who undergo these procedures are as comfortable as possible and help families support their children through this journey. This Fund provides a truly invaluable and incredibly compassionate service, which is why we have chosen to direct donations towards it. Any donation you can spare is a gift to a child who really needs it. You will probably never meet them but know that your donation could be what is needed to brighten their day and ease their pain. With your help we can try to put smiles on the faces of these children as they confront the daunting challenges that come with this horrible disease.
