Light Up Autism Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation providing positive support programs for children with autism in Victorian schools at no cost to families. It's aim is to build a network of therapeutic programs which continue the work of earlier intervention techniques most children with autism have received prior to school & to reach some who may have missed this vital intervention, so that their integration into the mainstream school environment is a positive experience for everyone.

On Friday night we headed to Lismore for the Serpentine art show, showcasing the art of the brilliant minds of ASD artists. We were honoured to be supported by Serpentine gallery and Southern Cross university to raise funds for LUAF. We got to see some wonderful art created by neurodiverse artists. It was great to celebrate the brilliant minds of these great artists.

Hello schools and teachers,

Light up Autism Foundation, are very excited to start offering schools the opportunity to complete our classroom support training days. They are designed to assist teachers and aides with supporting the diverse needs of all learners in the classroom. We have started doing training days to help schools to learn strategies to help support ASD students in the classroom. Although these skills can be applied to use for all students.

More and more children with Autism Spectrum Disorder are entering and completing their school education in public, catholic and private schools. In 2019 89% of children with a disability were reported to attend mainstream schools, and only 11% went to a specialist school. Unfortunately, most university primary and secondary education degrees and teacher’s aide courses include limited focus on both understanding ASD and practical strategies on educating and managing disruptive and / or aggressive behaviours within a busy classroom of 20-26other students. The Light Up Autism Foundation currently offers small group training presentations aimed at education assistants and teachers who want to develop a toolbox of practical strategies that reduce challenging behaviours and enhance learning. Based on the principals of positive behaviour support, participants are supported to analyse some of the common challenges that occur both in classrooms and in the playground, and to develop strategies that improve the participation, attention, learning and social development of neurodiverse students in mainstream educational settings.

If you are interested in hearing more about the training days please reach out and send us an email at lightupautism@gmail.com
We would love to be able to support you and keep making the future brighter for all children.

We are also still offering ABA programs and plans for ASD students, if anyone is interested in signing up their child.
