📝 Take Note Queenslanders. Have a good Easter holiday! 😊

📌 From 12 noon today, the Greater Brisbane lockdown will be lifted. Some restrictions will remain in place for all of Queensland until Thursday 15 April.

The lockdown has been successful in keeping the movement of people and COVID-19 to a minimum, and as a result, we are able to ease some restrictions.

From 12 noon Thursday 1 April:

😷 You must carry a face mask at all times. You must wear a face mask at all indoor public spaces and outdoors when you cannot socially distance
🍽️ Cafés and restaurants can return to seated eating and drinking. No standing.
🏠 30 people can gather at your home
🌳 500 people can gather in public spaces (outdoors)
💒 Weddings and funerals are allowed 200 guests

These restrictions will be reviewed in two weeks.

❗Importantly, please don't be complacent this Easter Long Weekend. We know this is a time for family, friends and rest but we want you to stay safe by continuing to:

🏠 stay home if you are sick
📱 check-in to all venues you visit
📏 keep 1.5m away from others
🧼 wash your hands often
✅ get tested if you have symptoms, no matter how mild

For more information, please visit 👉 https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/current-status/urgent-covid-19-update/

“Masks are compulsory and mandatory across the entire state of Queensland”

From 5pm today (March 29,2021) people who live, work, and visited in Brisbane, Logan, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, and Redlands must stay at home. The only reason you can leave your home is for essential work, caregiving, shopping, and exercise.

Remember to keep in mind the following information when providing essential work for our disability community: 👇

Why are people with disability at risk of COVID-19?

Some people with disability may be more vulnerable to COVID-19 especially if they:

✅have high support needs and cannot physically distance
✅have pre-existing health conditions such as a respiratory condition, a compromised immune system, heart disease or diabetes
✅face challenges in accessing healthcare information
have a disruption to their regular medication and services
✅are aged 70 years and over
✅are a First Nations person aged 50 years or over
are living in supported accommodation or group residential settings.

These factors can make people with disability more susceptible to contracting the virus. They can also experience more severe symptoms, which may lead to a higher chance of fatality.

So wear your face masks when necessary as per the regulations, stay safe and stay at home when you can ❤️

NDIS National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) intends to announce tomorrow, Monday 1st March 21, that the ability for participants to use their CORE funds flexibly to engage a Support Coordinator will be extended until the end of March 2021.

DIA understands that the NDIA has extended this funding flexibility to give appropriate time for participants to transition to alternative support arrangements and/or seek a light touch plan review from the NDIA.

Whilst DIA believes that this flexibility should remain ongoing, DIA welcomes this decision and will work with the NDIA and Support Coordinators to conduct as smooth a transition as possible.

DIA would like to thank our members and the broader Support Coordination sector for their support as we have worked to try are resolve this matter with the NDIA and Government.

On this extension, Disability Intermediaries Australia CEO, Mr Jess Harper said
“Whilst we would prefer this flexibility to remain ongoing as originally expressed by the NDIA, we welcome this decision to give reasonable time for Support Coordinators to work with participants to seek a ‘light touch’ plan review, change of circumstances or transition to alternative support arrangements.”

NDIA EXTEND CORE FUNDING FLEXIBILITY FOR SUPPORT COORDINATION Feb 28, 2021 Disability Intermediaries Australia has learned that the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) intends to announce tomorrow, Monday 1st March 21, that the ability for participants to use their CORE funds flexibly to eng...

A statement from the NDIA about changes to claiming Support Coordination from core. They are advising participants who have been utilising their Core Budget for Support Coordination and do not have a Capacity Building budget and still require support to seek a plan review. Read the statement on the link pasted.

The NDIA is not cutting funding for support coordination, and it is incorrect to say funding is no longer available for support coordinators.
