EAGALA Model Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) & Equine Assisted Learning (EAL):

Being experiential in nature, participants learn about themselves and others by engaging in activities with the horses, and then discussing feelings, behaviours and patterns. This approach has been compared to the ropes courses used by therapists, treatment facilities and human development courses around the world.

EAP/EAL has the added advantage of utilising horses - dynamic and powerful living beings. Why the EAGALA model?:

After attending the first EAGALA Biennial Pacific conference held at Tocal College, NSW in December 2012, I realised that this type of therapy was the perfect combination for my professional skills (psychology) and personal interest (horses). I chose the EAGALA model specifically because of it’s worldwide recognition and the
high quality of standards that make up the model (listed below). Team facilitation approach, including three members
- Licensed Mental Health practitioner (MH)
- Qualified Equine Specialist (ES)
- the horses

2. 100% on the ground (no riding)

3. Solution-focussed model
