At LA Optical, apart from traditional council recycling, which we use in the practice for domestic waste, we have three different glasses recycling options:

𝗦𝗽𝗲𝘅𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 which breaks down and transforms acetate frames into new ones in Sydney.
𝗟𝗶𝗼𝗻'𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 which collect glasses that are still in usable condition and send overseas.
𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 which recycles metal frames, acetate frames, and spectacle lenses, passing them on to local Australian companies as raw material for new products, thus decreasing our contribution to landfill. Opticycle

WELCOME OPTOMETRIST ALEK SIMS

Alek has recently relocated to the Toowoomba region from South Australia with his wife, Jess, and is very excited to be joining the LA Optical family!

As an Optometrist, he has broad experience working in rural and regional locations, where he’s been involved in all aspects of eye care, from general vision testing to managing more complex eye health conditions.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors, orienteering, and lawn bowls. He looks forward to becoming part of the Darling Downs community and supporting patients with their eye health needs.

Alek is a therapeutic optometrist, he graduated from Flinders University in South Australia in 2017 and is also a CASA certified optometrist (aviation certified optometrist).

Abby and her family are very exited to be expecting another baby!
Abby will be taking a few months off from the end of November for maternity leave. We wish Abby and her family all the best on the upcoming birth of their baby. We will introduce you to Alek our new Optometrist who will be starting soon!
