Pantothenic acid is one of eight water-soluble B vitamins. The name is derived from the Greek word pantou meaning “everywhere”. The daily requirement for vitamin B5 is 5mg for adults – slightly more when pregnant or breastfeeding. Isolated deficiency is very rare but causes fatigue, muscle cramps, depression and gut upset. "There is no health without mental health; mental health is too important to be left to the professionals alone, and mental health is everyone’s business." – Vikram Patel

Mental health is not a luxury.
It’s not separate from your physical wellbeing.
And it’s not just something for “other people” to worry about.

At Gordian Health, we believe mental health is foundational - to healing, to connection, to vitality, and to how we show up in the world.

You don’t need to be a psychologist to support someone.
You just need to be human, to care, and to keep the conversation open.

Let’s break the silence.
Let’s normalise the support.
Let’s make mental health everyone’s business.

Why not just use a multivitamin? Depending on what you eat and the vitamins you get through your meals, a multivitamin might only cover some of your daily requirements. It gets more complicated when you consider how different each multivitamin is. In this fact sheet linked below we show the average recommended daily intake of each B vitamin and how much popular brands multivitamins provide to allow you to make a more educated decision in the future.

Lion's Mane Mushroom // What is it? Latin name Hericium erinaceus, lions mane is a culinary mushroom that’s native to Asia, Europe, and North America. Mostly grown in Asia for culinary and medicinal uses. It grows on live and dead hardwood and is a 2 cm white round fungus with dangly spines that resemble a lion’s mane. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for at least 3000 years. It contains more than 30 active ingredients including hericenones (aromatics) and erinacines (diterpenes). These soluble, low molecular weight compounds readily cross the blood brain barrier and increase production of nerve growth factor (NGF). Read more in the full fact sheet through the link below!

“People who laugh actually live longer than those who don’t laugh. Few persons realise that health actually varies according to the amount of laughter.”
– James J. Walsh

Here’s your friendly reminder that wellness isn’t all green smoothies and gym sessions - it’s also about how often you laugh.

Science backs it:
✨ Laughter boosts immunity
✨ Reduces stress hormones
✨ Supports heart health
✨ Even eases pain

And the best part? It’s free, contagious, and available daily — if you let it in.

Vitamin B12 – Cobalamins || Cobalamins are one of eight water-soluble B vitamins. The several forms of B12 are known as cobalamins because they contain the trace metal cobalt. The daily requirement is 2.4 micrograms for adults. B12 is needed for red cell formation and for nervous system function. Deficiency causes anaemia with large red cells (macrocytic). Symptoms of B12 deficiency include fatigue, weakness, numbness, tingling, balance problems, cognitive defect, sore mouth and tongue. Read more in the full fact sheet through the link below!

“If you know the art of deep breathing, you have the strength, wisdom and courage of ten tigers.”
– Chinese Adage

In a world that moves fast and demands more, sometimes the strongest thing you can do is pause... and breathe.

Deep breathing isn’t just calming - it’s biologically powerful:
It soothes the nervous system
Lowers heart rate and blood pressure
Brings clarity to a racing mind
Grounds you in strength and resilience

At Gordian Health, we’re big believers in the basics - and breath is one of the most underrated tools in your wellness toolkit.

You don’t need an hour of meditation or a perfect setting. Just 60 seconds.
Inhale deeply, exhale slowly… and feel the shift.

Your breath is your anchor - and maybe even your inner tiger.

Riboflavin is one of eight water-soluble B vitamins. The daily requirement for an adult woman is 1.1 mg and for an adult man is 1.3 mg. It's the precursor for two important coenzymes, FAD and FMN. These are necessary to turn carbohydrate into energy. They are also important in the metabolism of fat and protein, in cell growth, and in maintaining the function of cells. Riboflavin is needed for the absorption and activation of iron, and vitamins B1, B3 and B6. It's needed to turn tryptophan into niacin (B3) and to turn vitamin B6 into its active form pyridoxal 5-phosphate (PLP). Vitamin B2 deficiency causes cracked lips, mouth inflammation and ulcers, red tongue, eyes sensitive to light, dermatitis, iron deficiency, fatigue, and trembling.

“If you keep good food in your fridge, you will eat good food.”
– Errick McAdams

It’s a simple truth - the food you surround yourself with becomes the food you eat.

When life gets busy, we tend to reach for what’s convenient. So if your fridge is full of whole, nourishing options, making healthier choices becomes second nature, not a chore.

We're not talking about perfection, or strict meal plans. Just the basics:

Fresh produce that's easy to prep

Proteins you enjoy and actually want to cook

Snacks that energise, not drain

Leftovers that make tomorrow easier

At Gordian Health, we believe nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated. Small shifts - like what you keep in your fridge, can have a big impact over time.

Mg supplements are either salts or chelates. Salts are where magnesium is coupled to another inorganic atom or molecule - examples are chloride, oxide, phosphate, carbonate, sulphate or hydroxide. Mg salts aren't well absorbed from the gut. They deliver a lot of magnesium but it largely doesn't get into your system. Magnesium chloride is the best absorbed salt - particularly if you have low gastric acid (pernicious anaemia or taking a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) drug). Chelates are where Mg is tightly bound to an organic molecule, usually an amino acid. They're much better absorbed than Mg salts. However, because the organic part of the molecule is relatively heavy, they contain less elemental magnesium than salts.

Our Story

Gordian Health was founded by Fiona and Lee Kennedy five years ago. We saw a need for a new approach to helping our clients with their health and fitness. We wanted to make use of our training and experience in nursing, medicine, fitness, nutrition and project management. Our approach is client centred and enabling. Evidence-based wherever possible and integrative – using knowledge that cuts across many disciplines. It is not just about the two of us trying to help you get the best of your health. It is about working with other partitioners who are also trying to help you and about introducing you to our associates when we think that they may be able to help you.

Why Gordian? Alexander the Great (356 – 323 BC) was one of the most powerful people in history. In 333 BC he entered the town of Gordium in Anatolia. There, he found a cart tied to a column. The knot in the rope was extremely complex with twist and turns that had no beginning and no end. Legend had it that whoever could undo the knot would rule all of Asia. Alexander studied the knot, drew his sword and cut right through it. The rest is history! Cutting the Gordian knot has come to mean adopting a bold approach to problem solving. And that is exactly what we try to do at Gordian Health.
