CARE INSTRUCTIONS/ CLEANING/ GEMSTONES /WARRANTY
Protection
Protection
Always protect your jewellery from sharp blows, scratching, chemicals, sunlight and heat/cold. Ideally, store your jewellery in a soft lined box or pouch. Try to keep pieces apart, so that they don't rub together or tangle up.
We suggest that you wear our jewellery for special occasions and not for everyday wear. We also suggest that you avoid wearing your jewellery when cleaning, doing housework, gardening or performing sports activities.
Avoid letting your jewellery come into contact with nail polish removers, perfume, hairspray, make up and any harsh chemicals as this may tarnish the metal and damage the stone.
Never go swimming in your jewellery as chlorine in swimming pools and spas can also cause damage to the stones and tarnish the metals
If you store silver in plastic bags with an interlocking seal, it will be less prone to tarnish.
When washing your hands (away from home) - don't place your rings on the wash basin - remove them and place them onto your necklace or place in a pouch in your handbag/purse
Beads/ Beaded Bracelets
If you have beaded necklaces such as gemstone, or pearls, store them flat, preferably in a silk pouch.
Cleaning
To clean your jewellery we suggest that you use luke warm water with a drop of dish washing liquid
Place your jewellery in the water for 10-20 minutes until any visible residue or dirt is removed. A soft toothbrush can also be used to remove residues and dirt.
RINSE THOUROUGHLY WITH COLD OR LUKE WARM WATER.
Dry the very gently jewellery with a lint free soft cloth
Then gently polish with a jewellery polishing cloth.
Store in a silk pouch or plastic zip lock bag.
WARNING
Some jewellery designers add a patina/oxidisation on purpose to enhance the look of the piece.
For this reason we do not advise use to use silver and gold polish and cloudy ammonia on these pieces and on oxidised sterling silver.
Oxidised Sterling Silver
Sterling silver has traditionally been kept as bright and shiny as possible. However, some people enjoy the appearance of oxidized sterling silver, especially when used in jewellery. Oxidized silver has a distinctively smoky appearance. It is dull rather than shiny and may come in various shades of grey to black. Cleaning oxidized sterling silver the same way you would polish normal silver will ruin the oxidization and completely alter the appearance and style of the piece. Silver polish is especially dangerous as it is actually designed to remove oxidization and tarnish.
To clean your oxidisd jewellery we suggest that you use luke warm water with a drop of dish washing liquid.
DO NOT USE HOT WATER AS THIS WILL ULTER OR REMOVE THE OXIDISATION
Place your oxidised piece in the water for 5-10 minutes until any visible residue or dirt is removed.
Dry the jewellery very gently with a lint free soft cloth
DO NOT RUB THE SILVER ROUGHLY as this may remove or damage the oxidisation
Gemstone Tips
Gem stone hardness is based on a standard called the Moh’s scale. The higher the Moh’s scale number, the harder the stone is. When the Moh’s scale was developed, early Gemmologists tried rubbing one stone against another to see which stone caused scratching on another. Quartz (the stone that makes up sand) is rated at 7 on the Moh’s scale, and that is why any gemstone with a rating of less than 7 is easily scratched (such as coral, lapis lazuli, opal, pearl, and turquoise).
Do not place these stones in chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners
