JCU: James Cook University, Australia researchers say rudeness and discourtesy between health workers is endangering patients.

JCU PhD candidate Benjamin Freedman led a study analysing the responses of more than 16,000 people, including more than 11,000 nurses, in 41 global studies of incivility among health care workers.

“Incivility is different from bullying. Uncivil behaviours are characteristically rude and discourteous, of lower intensity than bullying, have an ambiguous intent to harm and are a violation of social norms.

Fellow University Students,

I am conducting a survey of University Students in Australia, in relation to mental health, culture, COVID-19 and various other challenges including university non-completion. Your participation is voluntary and the results are strictly confidential. If you are interested, please have a read of the information sheet attached.

was only a day ago.
About two weeks ago we lost a colleague - the reasons unknown. A hypothesis included the isolation, third-culture exposures, and pressures of the medical profession. May his family find peace in his passing and their lives ahead.
What struck me as a mental health doctor is the ancient proverb, “cura te ipsum.” (Physician, heal thyself). As quoted in the Luke 4:23 - who by the way was a physician in his time. That nobody is immune from su***de and the struggles of life. This unprecedented time has made things difficult for everyone and we would hopefully actively put into our minds the need to support one another. .
