I have difficulty with this sometimes. We finally get time out, ie holidays, or weekends, and we rush to fill it with all sorts of things to do, ie long awaited chores or trips and activities. And, yes that can be fun and or needed. Talking to my kids though, they just want the time and space to decompress. To hang out in their rooms that they don’t get a chance to be in without the pressures of homework, study, ..routine. To pat the dog. To get up and do the things I need to do in their own time. To have a break of the raciness of life. And you can tell when they’ve had that break, because they come out of the cave and start looking for things to do, or doing things that I haven’t done for a long time. And they are calmer and more at peace.
