5 days of medical education for RGs and crit care trainees in beautiful Far North Queensland!
Snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef, experience stunning views from Kuranda skyway, walk through ancient rainforests and enjoy the company of your colleagues over dinner at Tha Fish.

Highlights
- lectures from critical care specialists on “how to approach” different organ failures
- learn to titrate inotropes and vasopressors like an intensivist
- practice or learn echo and fast scan skills in our small-group ultrasound workshops
- learn to troubleshoot the ventilator and optimise settings for different patients

8am Approach to acute left heart failure
9am Approach to acute right heart failure
10am-1pm and 2-5pm Procedural Workshops

Stations:
- Focused bedside ECHO
- FAST scan
- Central venous access (CVL)
- PICC insertion
- Intercostal catheter (ICC) insertion
- Emergency pericardiocentesis
- Inotrope/vasopressor titration

Tuesday
8am Approach to Respiratory Failure (COPD, asthma)
9am Approach to Respiratory Failure (ARDS, pneumonia)
10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm Procedural Workshops

Wednesday
Reef and snorkelling cruise
6pm-8pm Lectures - What's New Since Med School? Cancer therapies, Immunotherapies, Genetic therapies, Devices and AI

Thursday
8am– Approach to Coagulopathy and massive haemorrhage
9am - Approach to Liver Failure
10am-1pm – Workshops
Ventilator Optimisation, troubleshooting
NIV and invasive ventilation

Blue Mountains retreat 2026 - it’s a wrap!

4 adventure packed days - hiking to scenic lookouts, scrambling over river boulders, jumping off rocks into waterpools on our canyoning adventure, abseiling down a waterfall (!) and celebrating our successes with wine and cheese platters at our historic estate in Leura with 6 new doctor friends ☺️
