☀️ Feeling the Heat? Stay Safe in This Week’s Heatwave! ☀️

The summer heat has arrived early, and the current heatwave is bringing soaring temperatures across the Tweed. Extreme heat can take a toll on the body, especially for young children, older adults, and those with chronic health conditions.

💧 Top Tips to Stay Safe in the Heat:
💦 Stay hydrated — sip water regularly, even if you’re not feeling thirsty.
❄️ Keep cool indoors — use fans or air-conditioning, or visit air-conditioned spaces.
🌞🚫 Limit outdoor activity — especially during the hottest part of the day.
👗👒 Wear light, loose clothing and a wide-brimmed hat if needing to be outside.
🤝❤️ Check in on neighbours and loved ones who may be more vulnerable.
🐶🚗❌ Never leave children or pets in cars — even for a moment.

If feeling unwell in the heat — dizziness, headache, nausea, or excessive thirst — seek medical advice promptly. 📲 www.thesc.com.au

Did you know your vision provides around 90% of the information you use while driving?
Uncorrected vision issues are a major contributor to road incidents — but the good news is, you can reduce this risk by:
✅ Getting regular eye checks

👁️🌍 World Diabetes Day | 14th November

Diabetes continues to rise across Australia, with thousands of new cases each week. But did you know it can also affect your vision?

People living with diabetes are at higher risk of developing Diabetic Retinopathy — a condition where high blood sugar levels damage the retina. If left unchecked, it can lead to serious vision problems, including blindness.

🕵️‍♂️ The tricky part? It often shows no symptoms until it’s advanced. That’s why regular eye exams are so important — especially if you live with diabetes or have a family history of the disease.

✅ Keep your eyes safe by:
• Managing blood sugar levels
• Eating a balanced, nutritious diet
• Booking routine eye checks

👀✨ Envision Optical, located inside Tweed Health for Everyone Superclinic, provides comprehensive eye care and diabetic eye checks to help protect your sight for the future.
