It was greaqt to see everyone at Teddy Bears Picnic today... A big thank you to our supporters and volunteers who make this day possible:
Woolworths Cabarita for donating the sausages,
Men’s Shed Tweed Heads volunteers for cooking up the sausage sizzle,
Cudgen Rural Fire Brigade for their super fun fire truck demonstrations, and
SES volunteers, who showcased their rescue gear.
Teddy Bears Picnic is held as part of National Child Protection Week, an important time to raise awareness about creating safer environments for children and young people.
The 2025 theme, set by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN), is
“Every conversation matters: shifting conversation to action.”
This theme reminds us that talking about safety and wellbeing is only the first step — we must also take meaningful action to protect children and young people in our communities.
We were joined by many amazing stallholders, each bringing something unique for children to explore:
DCJ – Arts and crafts, rock colouring and painting.
Smiley Tots Preschool and Early Learning – Australiana nature-inspired felt play and clay modelling crafts.
Erlibryds – Face painting and “paint your own pot plant” activity with plants to take home.
NSW Health – Sensory tubs, music, bubbles, play dough and apple slinkys.
Cudgen Rural Fire Brigade – Fire engine display, hose games, tote bags full of goodies.
NSW Police – Police buggy and van, dress-up station, and Red Cross teddies.
SES – Rescue raft roleplay with gear and Stihl kids’ chainsaws, plus a megaphone demo!
TAFE NSW – Indigenous nature-themed story time and play.
Social Futures – Wooden teddy bear ornament painting and tasty tiny teddies.
Guardian Childcare & Education – Felt play and “Aspire to BE” pot plant activity.
River Cottage Day Care – Magic colour-changing play dough, story time, and felt play.
Northern Rivers Family Day Care – Make-your-own teddy badge, story time, and mini photo booth.
Cooloon – Jungle gym fun
The Family Centre – Pumice stone painting, tote bag decorating, story time, obstacle course, sensory play with lentils and toy vehicles, plus meet-and-greet with The Family Centres Teddy Bears and Zach as Ted E Bear!
Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Teddy Bears Picnic such a memorable morning — together, we’ve created a day filled with joy, learning, and action for child safety.
