There are several ways to describe the status of spinal discs from radiological examinations.
Usually there are 4 stages which commence with stresses to the outer layers of the disc which is called the Annulus Fibrosis. These abnormal loading stresses can cause micro tears.
Degeneration - this is usually the first stage and can often be referred to or associated with a dessicated disc which implies that a dehydration process is occurring.
Prolapse - a word that can often mean a bulge or a protrusion which can place pressure on exiting nerve roots.
Extrusion - an advanced bulge or herniated disc and often associated with Spinal Stenosis.
Sequestration - a term used to describe the contents of the disc breaking off.
Discs are identified as being between two vertebra therefore they’ll be named with a hyphen eg L4-5 or C3-4.
C= Cervical and there are 7 cervical vertebra
T=Thoracic and there are 12 thoracic vertebra
L= Lumbar and there are 5 lumbar vertebra
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is an effective method of treatment for for Cervical or Lumbar Disc pain and other related spinal issues including Canal Stenosis, Facet Syndrome and Spinal Degeneration.
