๐ฃ Important NDIS Update โ Funding Changes from 19 May 2025
From Monday, 19 May 2025, the NDIS is introducing a new way of releasing funding for all new and reassessed plans.
Instead of getting your full funding amount at the start of your plan, funds will now be released in smaller chunks called โfunding periods.โ For most people, this will be every 3 months. If you receive Home and Living supports, your funds might be released monthly.
โ
What does this mean for you?
Youโll only be able to use the funds available for the current period (e.g. 3 months at a time).
Any unspent funds will roll over to the next period within the same plan.
This change helps with budgeting and reduces the risk of running out of funds too early.
Your total plan budget will still be visible, but without detailed line items โ itโll show a clear total and how long it needs to last.
โImportant:
These changes only apply to new or reassessed plans from 19 May 2025. If your current plan is simply extended (rolled over), it wonโt be affected until your next review.
Why the change?
To help participants manage their budgets better.
To encourage regular reviews and timely support adjustments.
To ensure consistent use of funding across the plan duration.
Quick Tips:
Know your funding period dates and plan your supports accordingly.
If your plan is reviewed or changed after 19 May, check how your funding is broken up.
