Looking forward to being apart of SLST’s big weekend with the launch of our Wheels to Waves project!

Our project aims to promote inclusivity, giving everyone access to our beautiful beaches and we couldn’t have done it without the support of SLST clubs around the state.

// A big weekend ahead!

The season may be close to coming to a close, but it certainly isn't slowing down! This weekend looks to be one of the biggest on the calendar!

Over the weekend we will see...

⛱Volunteer patrol at Surf Life Saving Clubs across the state, find your nearest patrolled beach and times at www.beachsafe.org.au.

🚣‍♂️ Members providing water safety support at the Australian Rowing Championships at Lake Barrington, starting today and continuing into next week.

🧑‍🦽The launch of the Wheels to Waves initiative driven by a group of 2019 Tasmanian Leaders Program Graduates, in partnership with SLST on Saturday at Kingston Beach.

🏊‍♀️ The Tasmanian Ocean Swim Series final two swims of the series. Saturday’s Seven Mile Beach Ocean Swim and Kingston Beach Surf Life Saving Club’s Beach2Beach Ocean Swim on Sunday.

Getting excited for our project launch tomorrow!

An initiative from the Tasmanian Leaders Program has led to the purchase of four new beach wheelchairs

🌊☀️ The beach is an Australian icon, enjoyed by millions of Australians and international visitors every year. It is an important part of the Australian lifestyle but many people with mobility difficulties are often excluded from enjoying the recreational and social benefits of our natural environment with their families, friends and careers.

Wheels to Waves, a community project initiated during the 2019 Tasmanian Leaders Program, has established a network of custom-made therapeutic beach access wheelchairs across Tasmania.

We're super excited the community will be able to access these chairs at Surf Life Saving locations around the state. The "official launch" will be next month, however, stay tuned for updates and to learn more about this initiative.
