Who we are
FNQ Allied Health was born in 2013. Mr Damien Spann created this business with the goal of providing a top- notch health service to the Cairns community. Damien has 9 years of clinical experience as an Exercise Physiologist, and has recently (2019) completed his post-graduate studies in Diabetes Education. Damien specialises in lifestyle intervention, weight management, motivational counselling and diabetes management. Damien enjoys spending time with his wife and their new son, either at the beach or on the boat at the reef.
Late 2018 saw the addition of Miss Mary Malan to the team! Mary graduated from James Cook University in 2015, and has been working as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist since. Mary enjoys implementing strength and conditioning exercises with her clients, working with neurological conditions and also has an interest in dietetics. Mary enjoys staying healthy and active by going on hikes around Cairns, as well as completing her own strength and conditioning session in the gym.
In mid 2019 there was a need for a third clinician, and Miss Kyle Smith was introduced. Kyle also graduated as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist from JCU, in 2016. Kyle hasn’t been in the field for too long, but already has experience working with: group fitness, pre/ rehabilitation, spinal injuries, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, mental health disorders, vision impairment and also working with children with disabilities. Outside work, you’ll find Kyle either powerlifting, on the footy field playing Oztag, or watching animal videos.
