As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, we partnered with our friends at the Single Digital Patient Record Implementation Authority on 15 July for a special morning event. It was a meaningful opportunity to reflect, connect and honour the enduring contributions of the First Nations communities we serve.
As part of the celebrations, together, we took time to listen, share and deepen our understanding of the continuing culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Uncle Les and members of his cultural performance group enriched the event with traditional dances and a smoking ceremony, sharing with us the meaningful stories and cultural significance behind them.
From our Aboriginal Connection eHealth NSW network, Chantelle Green, Danny Sampson and Tom Woods, along with Greg Slabb, led a panel discussion on the importance of NAIDOC Week and this year’s theme of 'The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy'
"I want to take a moment to reinforce the crucial role we all play in supporting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal communities, particularly in regional, rural and remote areas.
Technology is a vital tool in connecting our health services and ensuring that, no matter where people live, they have access to specialists and the best care possible.
It's important that we continue to engage and collaborate with Aboriginal communities in the design, development and delivery of our digital solutions and services to ensure we address their unique healthcare needs and improve health outcomes, not only for Aboriginal communities, but for all the people of NSW." said Richard Taggart, Chief Executive, eHealth NSW
Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a memorable and meaningful occasion 🖤💛❤️
