The evaluation of Enliven Community's National Community Cooperative Pilot Project has just been published and the findings overwhelming support the critical role Facilitators play in empowering Australians with disability to be genuine decision makers about their shared supports. These findings truly validate the great work Enliven Community have done and continue to do and we're so excited to see what the future holds.
We’re excited to share the evaluation of our National Community Cooperative Pilot Project has been published. It highlights key outcomes, lessons, and the potential for broader sector change.
We have always been passionate about ensuring Australians with a disability are genuine decision makers about their shared supports. We created what the NDIA is calling ‘Shared Support Facilitators’ to address this need, supporting people to be in control of what they share, how it is delivered, and who delivers it - which we've successfully rolled out within Enliven Housing's properties since day one.
We were beyond excited to receive funding to deliver this work. Our main goals were:
* Test the model in housing types other than the 10+1 apartment model;
* Gain honest feedback and evidence to help us improve our services, through this independent evaluation;
* Raise awareness of this role, to support the uptake in the Australian disability sector.
These findings demonstrate to us the ongoing potential for Facilitators to support people. Since then, we’ve continued to grow, evolve and deepen our work. The learnings from this project have shaped who we re today and continue to inform where we’re heading next (including into shared living environments – stay tuned!)
A very big thank you to the huge group of people who were involved and supportive of this project, and to our esteemed colleagues at La Trobe University and Summer Foundation for capturing its impact.

It was a pleasure and privilege to be part of the DSC Annual NDIS Conference 2025 as a growth sponsor.
Across the two days, our staff had the opportunity to engage with NDIS participants, a range of support staff and providers as wells as some of the sector's brightest minds and thought leaders. Overall, it was an amazing and insightful two days and we're very much looking forward to next year's instalment.
