Are you interested in taking part in a project? Are you born between 1973 - 78? You can either have endometriosis or not. The survey is to help The University of QLD understand their possible causes of endometriosis.

The University of Queensland is looking for women born between 1973-78 to take part in a new project - the Genetic variants, Early Life exposures, and Longitudinal Endometriosis symptoms Study (GELLES). Participants don't need to have endometriosis to take part in the study. In fact, we need women both with and without endometriosis.

Participation involves completing a confidential online survey (approx. 30-60 minutes) and then taking part in an online focus group or individual interview to provide feedback on the survey (approx. 20-30 minutes). Participants will receive a $15 Coles gift card as a thank you.

If you're interested in taking part, please visit https://alswh.org.au/gelles/gelles-1973-78-pilot/ and register your interest.

If you have any questions, please send an email to gelles@uq.edu.au

I’m so excited to launch my sparkly new website created by the incredible Jess from .creative! Jess was a dream to work with and bought my vision alive 🥰

My mission is simple.

To empower you to live well with endometriosis.

I share expert advice, self-care strategies, mindset coaching and the important role of diet and nutrition to help you manage the symptoms of endometriosis based on the latest scientific research.

My passion is to educate, engage and empower you to take control of your health and make informed decisions. There’s no cure for endo, but there is hope.

You are not alone. I’ve also battled endometriosis, adenomyosis, PCOS and infertility. I’ve been told it’s all in my head, suffered severe depression and anxiety, had two laparoscopic surgeries, bowel resection, multiple rounds of ICSI, IVF, debilitating pelvic pain and everything in between.

So I understand the pain, confusion and frustration of this chronic disease.

I’ll be by your side every step of the way and help you create a supportive team of health-care professionals. Because a multi-faceted disease requires a multi-disciplinary whole body approach!

If you’re interested in learning more, please contact me at hello@endowellness.com.au to schedule a complimentary Connection Call.

This past week was National Infertility Awareness Week (18-24 April).

This is very close to my heart. It’s not a story I’m ready to publicly share as our secondary infertility journey is raw and painful and doesn’t have a babes in arms happy ending.

If you’ve ridden the infertility roller coaster then you understand how devastating, heartbreaking and stressful it can be. Our decade of TTC broke me.

Sadly 1 in 6 Australian couples will have difficulty getting pregnant.

Infertility looks different for everyone. It may be a couple/individual struggling to conceive, suffering multiple losses, using assisted reproductive technology (IUI/IVF), experiencing secondary infertility, using donor sperm/eggs, impotence, battling a chronic disease such as endometriosis, adenomyomisis, uterine cancer/rupture, low egg/sperm count, genetic issues, surrogacy, adoption ... and so many other factors that I can’t list them all.

I’m in awe of the strength and courage of those who share their infertility journey to give others a voice, to raise awareness, to educate, to spread hope and to reduce the stigma surrounding infertility.

You are not alone. Please reach out for support.

Especially relevant when you have Endo.

Keep on trying 💗🙏

My beautiful sister shared this today and I’m re-sharing because it resonated with me!

I’ve seen a lot of people feeling down and defeated because they never achieved their business, personal or health goals this year. So they feel like they’ve failed. Which is far from the truth. We’ve all endured a difficult and uncertain year and doing the best we can!

If you didn’t achieve your goals, then try again. If you need more time, try once more. Then try it a little differently.

There’s always going to be hiccups along the way. If there’s anything we’ve learnt in 2020, it’s to accept change and be resilient. Don’t give up, keep going and try again.

If you have a week of bad food choices, it doesn’t mean you’ve undone all your good work. It doesn’t mean you should give up. You haven’t fallen off the bandwagon. You don’t need to wait for a new day, new week, new month or new year to restart.

Just try again. Right now 🙌

Do it differently. Get help. Fix what is not working. And try again until you succeed.

{Research Study on Women in Australia with Endometriosis}

Here are the findings of a study published in the Journal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics & Gynecology by O’Hara, Rowe & Fisher on 13 October 2020.

This cross-sectional online survey was conducted from 14 Nov - 8 January 2018 of 620 Australian women diagnosed with endometriosis.

Key findings showed that:

🔺The average diagnosis of endometriosis takes 6.4years

🔺Delays in diagnosis may be due to the normalisation of period pain from both the client and practitioner

🔺Practitioners may prescribe the pill as first line treatments or be unfamiliar with symptoms of endometriosis

🔺Despite medical and surgical intervention 65.6% reported severe period pain (dysmenorrhea) and 82.7% reported chronic pelvic pain

🔺Respondents had seen an average of three different practitioners within the past 12 months for endometriosis

This study shows that we need a management plan to facilitate faster diagnosis of endometriosis, more support and reporting following surgical intervention to those who experience ongoing symptoms. More studies and more research to help find a cure for Endo!

Please share with your loved ones with Endo to help create awareness.

I dreamt of launching Endo Wellness for about 8 months before I plucked up the courage to do it! 💗 I was recovering from major surgery and knew in my heart that I needed to share my clinical knowledge and lived experience with endometriosis, Adenomyosis, PCOS and infertility to support and empower others.

I often look for ‘signs’ or ‘messages’ before I make big decisions or embark on new projects and so each Monday for four weeks I pulled ONE card from the angel card deck at Indigo Soul Wellness 🌸

And each week it was EXACTLY THE SAME CARD!!! 🤩😵😳🤯

The first time I intuitively pulled this card I was filled with love, joy, hope and happiness 😍

Passion & Purpose ~ Your enthusiasm gives you energy and motivation to work on a meaningful project that’s dear to your heart

The second time I pulled this card I was like 😵 wow what a coincidence, that’s so cool

The third time I was like “no freakin way?!! What are the chances?! This is craazeee!”

The forth time I TOTALLY freaked out!! 😱😱 Do ya think the universe could have screamed any louder at me? 🙊😅 I was shaking and in that moment I registered my business name, bought my domain name and started this FB page 🙈 I did it all before I was ready ... because how many messages from the universe did I need to get?!

So the moral of the story is to follow your passion and purpose. Don’t let self doubt or lack of confidence dim your light. Don’t let pain or Endo control your life or dampen your dreams ... I’m here to support you every step of the way. I’m so proud to be working in an area that lights up my soul. I love supporting clients to gain more energy, improve sleep, restore gut health and reduce pain

Reach out if you’d like to chat about how we can work together. I don’t have an Endo Wellness website yet but you can check out my other biz The Nourished Network and book a consult via www.nourishednetwork.com.au

Living with endometriosis can have a huge impact on your emotional health.

For me, the chronic pain and frustration of having Endo increased my anxiety and in return my stress and anxiety amplified the severity of my pain, inflammation and Endo flares - so it’s a vicious circle. Hands up if you suffer from

Research shows that people with endometriosis report high levels of anxiety and depression which is often linked to chronic pelvic pain, period pain, heavy periods, sciatic pain, lower back pain, leg pain, pain with ovulation and in*******se, fatigue and digestive issues. When your whole body is in constant pain it’s difficult to sleep, function or think clearly.

For many, Endo reduces your quality of life and may trigger emotional distress of low self worth, loneliness, lack of confidence, shame, failure, disappointment in your body and issues of not feeling heard, lack of support from loved ones, needing to cancel plans, not being able to plan ahead. It may affect sexual intimacy and compromise relationships with partners, friends, employers, work colleagues and so much more.

Anxiety can look different for everyone - it may present as excessive worry, intrusive thoughts, heart palpitations, sweaty hands, headaches, overwhelm, brain fog, disrupted sleep, confusion and fatigue that impacts your daily life.

The foundation of my endometriosis treatment plans include managing and reducing pain, increasing energy levels, nourishing the body with nutrient dense foods, improving quality of life and most importantly to reduce stress and anxiety.

Research shows that stress weakens the immune system and we know that Endo is an inflammatory disease caused by immune system dysregulation and Gut Dysbiosis. So we need to support the immune system which includes managing stress and anxiety and restoring gut health because over 80% of the immune system is located in the gut.

If you want help to manage your Endo, reach out for a free connection call by sending me a DM.

All the places that endometriosis has been found in the body - everywhere except the spleen. {Please note that some of these places are extremely rare such as the heart, brain and lungs}.

Most commonly, endometriosis is found on the ovaries, bowel, bladder and Fallopian tubes. This tissue responds to the monthly hormonal cycle and becomes inflamed and bleeds causing lesions to form on these organs. Over time, these lesions may form adhesions which can cause internal organs to stick together.

I personally suffered from “frozen pelvis” in which my uterus, ovaries, bladder and bowel were stuck together. It caused pelvic pain, period pain, back pain, leg pain, fatigue, nausea and so much more.

While there is no cure for Endo I can support YOU by working together to create a personalised dietary, lifestyle and pain management plan.

If you or someone you know has Endo, please reach out as I’m here to support you.

One of the most debilitating symptoms of endometriosis is pain. Chronic pain robs you of the freedom and life you imagined 😞

For many, endo pain may be constant and systemic (whole body) whilst others may experience severe pain only during menstruation. Often, the experience of pain may not correlate with the stage of endometriosis lesions as it may depend where the Endo is located (i.e. ovaries, bowel, bladder) and an individual’s personal response to pain.

There are many different types of pain associated with Endo such as period pain, pelvic pain, abdominal pain, sciatic pain, re**al pain and pain during bowel motions (such as constipation, burning sensation, difficulty passing urine and painful bowel motions). Others may experience back pain, ovulation pain, leg pain and pain during in*******se.

Although endometriosis pain may feel different for everyone, there are a few common red flags to identify it from a bad period or digestive issues as it’s often misdiagnosed.

Endometriosis pain is often chronic, that is, you may experience pain during your menstrual cycle and any other time during the month for an extended length of time. Secondly, the pain can be severe and pain medication may not provide comfort and thirdly the pain is consistent and often associated with heavy periods, pelvic pain, fatigue, iron deficiency, bowel issues, nausea and headaches. Most often, further investigation and Excision Surgery may be required to remove the endometrial tissue and adhesions.

There may also be emotional pain associated with increased risk of miscarriage, infertility, loneliness, loss of trust, trauma and/or relationship issues.

Chronic pain is complex because every pain experience is unique. So if you’re looking for a holistic pain management plan, please reach out to discuss natural remedies which may help to reduce your Endo pain, which often involves trialing a few different strategies to find out what works for you.⠀

Do you feel as though you’ve tried everything to manage your Endo pain and nothing has worked? 🥺

As a fellow Endo warrior I understand your anger, overwhelm and frustration. What I have learnt is that while there isn’t a cure for Endo, there are holistic strategies to help manage the pain and change our mindset so that we don’t fall victim to this debilitating disease.

You are worthy of feeling good. You are worthy of not being in constant pain. You are worthy of Endo not controlling your life.

If you have any questions of how I can empower you to live a more nourished life with Endo, or provide pre/post laparoscopic excision surgery support, please touch base for a FREE 15min connection call, you can book via my website www.nourishednetwork.com.au

It’s been a while since I posted on this page as I decided to have a social media break.

Often the best medicine is to disconnect to reconnect. I found myself spiraling in the death scroll too many times which is a dangerous vortex to get trapped in! 🧨🤯

I’ve seen so much hatred, abuse and aggression on social media this year, most likely fueled by the heaviness and darkness of world events. Unfortunately, fear breeds fear. So I want to remind everyone that this is a safe space with zero tolerance to bullying, racism, hatred and/or discrimination.

This includes nasty comments about any health professionals. We need to understand that just because something didn’t work for you, doesn’t mean it hasn’t worked for others.

Endometriosis is a complicated disease. Every presentation is unique and what works for one may not work for another. Some people may experience significant relief and reduction in bloating and pain from a gluten-free or dairy-free diet, while others may not notice any change. Some feel relief from hot water bottles, the tens machine or yoga. While others don’t.

We will create a personalised and individualised plan to support YOU on your journey. I’m here to educate, inspire and empower you to live a more nourished life with Endo through food as medicine, mindset, mindful movement and self-care rituals that are specifically tailored to you 💗
