The 3-month breastfeeding “crisis” — what’s actually going on 🤪
This stage catches so many mums off guard. Suddenly your baby is fussier at the breast, feeding feels different, and you start wondering if your supply has dropped.

But here’s the truth — it’s not a crisis, and it doesn’t mean your milk is gone.

Around 3 months:
✔️ Your supply regulates (softer breasts are normal!)
✔️ Your baby is more aware and easily distracted
✔️ They become faster + more efficient feeders
✔️ And they’re likely going through a big developmental leap

It’s a LOT of change at once — for both of you.

What can help:
– Try feeding while standing or gently rocking
– Clip a toy to your bra or top
– Make eye contact, sing, or play peekaboo
– Feed in a quieter, darker space
– Or simply take a breath and try again later

This phase usually lasts a few weeks. You’re not doing anything wrong — your baby is growing, developing, and adjusting.

Save this for when you need the reminder:
Trust your body. Trust your baby. You’ve got this.

Of course if your concerned reach out to a lactation consultant, MCHN or a trusted Helath care professional 💗

Birth prep matters.
Bodywork matters.
Education matters.

We’ve moved far from the way our bodies used to be conditioned. That’s why support, preparation, and real information are everything.

This isn’t about fear — it’s about feeling empowered, informed, and connected to your instincts.

As a lactation consultant, I tell everyone to antenatal express.
Antenatal expressing of colostrum can be a great resource if you need to top your baby up post-birth instead of giving formula.
And a great skill to learn of how to handle your breasts before bubs is here.

But here’s what I really want everyone to know: small amounts are completely normal.
Many people don’t realise that a major hormonal shift happens after the placenta is delivered. That’s when progesterone levels drop and prolactin — your milk-making hormone — kicks in.

This is why how much you express antenatally isn’t a predictor of your long-term milk supply. The real milk-making magic happens once that hormone shift begins — and supporting it properly in those early days is key.

For example, I only managed to express 0.7ml during pregnancy — and I’ve had no issues with supply postnatally. 🙌🏼

So please don’t stress about the volume. Focus on learning the skill, not filling the syringe. You’re doing exactly what you need to 💛

What to look for if using a bottle for your little one 💗

This is a question I get asked all the time, what teat should I get if I need or want to use a bottle while breastfeeding.

I hope these tips help💗
