Harmonise and balance the yin and yang Qi (‘chi’) within your body.

Your left side is known as the yin side (think more resting, meditative and feminine Qi). Whereas, your right side is known as the yang side of the body (think more energetic, doing and masculine Qi).

At times, our yin and yang Qi can be out of balance. We can be more yin and may lack motivation, drive and the energy to do things. Other times we can be more yang with too much of an overflow of doing energy and unable to relax.

This class helps to balance out these two opposing energies to bring harmony and ease within our bodies and daily lives, where there is a balance between doing and being.

Join Em for this 25min Qigong class, honouring Qigong’s more traditional Chinese roots, from Nature’s Window.

I come from a professional background. I’ve spent numerous hours of my working life under fake fluorescent lights, on grey carpeted floors, within white painted walls whilst being surrounded by concrete, asphalt, traffic and industrial noise.

I once got in an argument with the head of HR because, while there was a perfectly good office space with windows allowing natural light, myself and 7 others (some of which were management) were subject to work inside a tiny octagon prison located in a windowless warehouse. Not only was I not allowed to change offices, but the question had never been raised and HR thought it was odd that I was even asking.

What is wrong with this?

To fully understand we can look back as far as the first living cell LUCA. LUCA was the first single cell organism that, like humans, reacted to its environment. Life has adapted and evolved a great extent since LUCA. Humans are now the most intelligent and self aware form of life on this planet to date. Hooray for humans! However, this ongoing evolution has mostly taken place amongst nature. We are physiologically and biologically built to survive and thrive within the natural world. So it comes as no surprise that we feel happier and more relaxed when we go camping, away from the hustle and bustle of cities and urban life.

Due to the demands of modern life most of us can agree that there is now a rather significant separation from nature. After all, a lot has changed since our hunting and gathering days in the savannah’s and grasslands of East Africa… except us. Our nervous system still reacts the same way to a hungry lion as it does to peak hour traffic or the printer failing… again...

About Me

My name is Emma and I am the creator of Embody Self.

I started out practicing yoga in my teens and like many of us, started yoga purely for the physical aspect it offered, but I soon realised that it was a very powerful practice that allowed me to reconnect to who I truly am and how I feel, on any given day.

Finding and practicing yoga was very important to me, as I was going through an extremely stressful time, with my sister diagnosed with an eating disorder and my parents separating. Yoga offered the space for me to process everything that was happening around me, and to release stress, worry and tension, that I was holding onto. Needless to say it became an important part of my life that has continually supported me, and has flowed into practicing and teaching Meditation and Qigong.

I finished my 200hr yoga teacher training in 2017, and have completed further trainings, such as a 50hr Embodied Yin teacher training, 30hr yoga nidra teacher training and a 10hr Yin teacher training. I have also completed my Qigong teacher training (60hrs), with further exploration of Qigong through various workshops and classes.
