If you grew up with super rigid or super porous boundaries, you probably have no idea how to set healthy ones.

You either lack flexibility in your relationships, unwilling to compromise and adapt, or you're completely entangled and enmeshed with those around you.

You either feel a disconnect to others, or you fail to recognise where you end and someone else begins.

You either have a general dislike for people and are set in your ways, or you people please and regularly self-abandon.

You're either stubborn and obstinate, or secretly burnt out and resentful.

Healthy boundaries fall somewhere in between and depending on the situation, can be flexible and adaptable according to context.

The first step is developing conscious awareness of your patterns around boundaries.

The second step is learning the communication skills so that you have the right language.

The third step is honouring the truth of what feels right.

The final step is having the courage to move through the discomfort and execute the words in a way that commands respect.
