How To Make Better Decisions
What I’m currently realising is with big change, comes the need to make more informed decisions.
I’ve been observing how change can be destabilising and bring up confining patterns of decision making e.g. over-weighing pros and cons, getting lost in minutiae, fear of ‘what ifs’, procrastination and then losing the momentum of timing.
Overthinking or procrastination, takes out the original open, spark and flow as our decisions as they get blocked by doubt. I’m not talking about whimsical, rash decision-making, more that gut instinct that sometimes doesn’t make complete sense, but feels right and important to go with.
In a bigger picture there are no “wrong” moves, just experiences for us to learn from and correct. Sometimes we need to go through a side door to get to the main room, where all the action is! Consequently, procrastinating with decision-making, can at times, make things harder, for any doors to open at all.
I was talking to someone this week and mentioned I’d made a decision about something and she questioned “Is that what you really want to do? What is your natural instinct saying atm?” I thought that was a weird question, but I was open to hearing it as it touched a deeper part, where I felt blocked. As soon as I felt the restriction as fear, I realised I actually wanted to make the opposite decision. When I told her, I felt so much freer and excited…it was like I had found the truth, spoken it, and things were already happening!
I immediately felt my mind control trying to take over and reMIND me of all the practical and logical reasons why this was not possible. I started to feel the “yoyo” effect, one moment being free, the next feeling trapped. This experience gave me clarity on how I had previously made some decisions. When my gut instincts were saying to go one way, my “overthinking” and others opinions, had taken me the opposite way!
I became aware I needed to make decisions from a more responsible wholesome place, where my feelings not just physical, but mental, emotional and spiritual were included. To listen to the tune playing inside, not just the one playing outside, dictating my past life. To bring my heart and head together and trust the direction it wants to go, so natural movements can align for the greater good.
When making decisions involving many, we don’t need to know every detail, or to have everyone agreeing it’s “trusting ourselves” which automatically generates upliftment that draws in others, where unknown possibilities and opportunities, previously not imagined, can open up.
Even though business is currently tight, we all need a lift at the moment, and it might be through our decision making, where we trust ourselves, let go of controlling everything, have some new and fresh experiences, that it happens!
