Developing Inner Wisdom
These days, voice practice for me has become a form of giving, radiating light outwards in all directions into the world. It helps to clear my mind and allows my day to unfold from a place of grounded, centred, calm.
Our voices touch our inner-most being. When we begin to engage with voice work, we begin to experience the vibrations of our voice within our body. At first the experience can be one of noticing the restrictions and blocks in our expression. As we continue, the sounds flow with greater ease and freedom. In time, we may even experience our voice as a light within that we can direct to different areas of the body for healing. It can strengthen our inner radiance and protect us from negativity.
The beauty of these inwards experiences is that there really is no right or wrong. The experience is yours, even if you don't have the words to describe how it has touched you. If we can remain open and curious about what is happening, insight often drops in, without analysing or trying to work anything out.
These direct experiences inform us on a level beyond the mind. It is an intuitive knowing that is direct and immediate. It is different to knowledge or the intellectual kind of knowing. Knowledge is full of all the things you have read or others have told you. It comes from seeking on the outside, as opposed to journeying within.
In an age where we have so much information at our finger-tips, it is important to not get too caught up in all the views, opinions, facts and non-facts out there. We can even go over-board with listening to other people's wisdom and teachings, forgetting that all we need for our own fulfilment and awakening lies within.
Learning how to tune-in to the wisdom of the body is a valuable skill that anyone can develop. The more time you take to simply stop, breathe and listen, the more accessible your inner wisdom will become.
