There's a lot of dodgy stuff that's happened/happening in the so-called spiritual community and it's no surprise that some of it is coming out now.
Breathless is headed by a guy who ripped off the Wim The Iceman (Wim Hof) method, called it a different name and accredited "facilitators" at 5K a pop with little to no understanding of any metal health space.
There are cowboys everywhere who do a plant medicine ceremony then 2 weeks later they're facilitation healing ceremonies.
What happened to these people in these spaces is downright appalling. And for the head of the company wash his hands of it and say we'll look into and review its practices it is a cop out.
Look at the integrity of the behaviour.
Took another person's modality, literally ripped it off and promoted as his own.
Then allowed someone with a sexual offence to attend a retreat and facilitate.
On top of that other alleged unsafe practices.
Breathwork on its own is not a substitute or suitable for deep trauma.
Breathwork is great for health and wellbeing.
Ice baths are great for general wellbeing.
But if you have deeper issues putting your trust in these cowboys with little to no background in mental health is dangerous.

When a wellness business owner learnt a woman was about to go public about being sexually abused by his ex-staff member, he tried to pressure her to remain quiet.

The Speed of Light: A Spiritual and Scientific Bridge

In both science and spirituality, the speed of light holds profound significance as a unifying principle that connects the seen and the unseen, the measurable and the infinite. Eastern esoteric traditions view light not merely as a physical phenomenon but as a manifestation of divine consciousness, while science explains light as the fastest entity in the universe, shaping our understanding of space and time. This essay explores the relationship between light, time, and spiritual transcendence in Eastern esoteric traditions, interwoven with scientific insights.

The Speed of Light in Science: Defining Time and Space

Scientifically, light is the ultimate cosmic speed limit, traveling at approximately 3 \times 10^8 meters per second in a vacuum. According to Einstein’s theory of relativity, as an object approaches the speed of light, time slows for that object relative to an outside observer. At the speed of light itself, time ceases entirely, meaning that a photon, traveling at c, experiences no passage of time. This suggests that light operates outside our usual perception of time and space, making it a unique phenomenon bridging the finite and infinite.

Furthermore, light’s constancy in all reference frames establishes causality and order in the universe. It not only defines how we perceive reality but also connects distant parts of the cosmos through spacetime. This unifying quality of light provides a foundation for understanding its deeper metaphysical implications.

Light and Time in Eastern Esoteric Traditions

In Eastern esoteric traditions, light is equated with divine knowledge and consciousness. The Upanishads refer to the Param Jyoti (Supreme Light) as the ultimate source of all existence, symbolizing Brahman—the unchanging, eternal reality. The Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 10, Verse 11) describes Krishna as the one who “illuminates the hearts of the devoted, dispelling darkness with the lamp of knowledge.” Light, in this sense, represents spiritual awakening, transcending the illusions of time and material existence.

The slowing of time near the speed of light in scientific terms parallels the spiritual experience of timelessness described in meditative states. In deep meditation, as prescribed in Eastern esoteric traditions, the practitioner transcends the mind’s temporal constraints, experiencing unity with the eternal present. This mirrors the scientific idea that at the speed of light, time ceases, drawing a profound parallel between spiritual enlightenment and the physics of light.

In the Six Yogas of Naropa, a Buddhist ta***ic system, white light is a crucial visualization in the practice of inner heat (tummo) and clear light meditation. Practitioners focus on the luminous white light as a representation of pure awareness and ultimate reality. This light signifies the merging of relative and absolute truths, dissolving dualistic perceptions. It is believed that meditating on white light reveals the clarity and emptiness of the mind, akin to light’s ability to transcend space and time. The imagery of white light also aligns with scientific ideas of light containing all wavelengths, symbolizing the unity of all experiences and realities.

Buddhist teachings also regard light as a symbol of enlightenment. The Vajrayana tradition often refers to the “Clear Light of the Mind,” a state of pure awareness untainted by duality or temporal concerns. This “clear light” corresponds to the eternal, timeless realm that science hints at when describing light’s unique relationship with time.

Time: Linear, Cyclical, or Beyond?

In scientific terms, time is often perceived as linear, progressing from the past to the present and into the future. However, many Eastern esoteric traditions and mystical systems regard time as cyclical. Concepts like Samsara (the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth) and the yugas (cosmic ages) illustrate that time repeats in grand patterns, much like natural cycles observed in the universe.

Beyond this, mystics and visionaries like Edgar Cayce and Wolf Messing suggest that time is not fixed but a fluid construct, accessible through altered states of consciousness. In such states, barriers of time and space dissolve, enabling individuals to tap into the Akashic Records—a metaphysical repository of all knowledge, past, present, and future. These records are described as an energetic imprint of everything that has ever happened and will happen, akin to a cosmic database beyond the constraints of spacetime.

Accessing the Akashic Records or glimpsing future events, as Cayce claimed to do, suggests that time is more akin to a fourth-dimensional space that can be navigated. Scientific theories such as quantum mechanics and multiverse interpretations lend some support to these ideas, positing that all possible outcomes exist simultaneously in a superposition until observed. Similarly, advanced meditation or heightened consciousness in esoteric traditions enables individuals to transcend linear time, accessing wisdom and insights that appear futuristic.

Bridging Science and Spirituality

Science shows that light transcends time, acting as the ultimate constant in the universe. Similarly, spirituality teaches that aligning with the “light within” allows individuals to transcend the cycles of birth and death (Samsara) and experience moksha, or liberation. In Eastern esoteric traditions, this is embodied in practices like Surya Namaskar (salutation to the sun) and mantras like the Gayatri Mantra, which invoke the divine radiance to awaken spiritual insight.

The scientific understanding of light as the fastest entity also aligns with the yogic philosophy of prana (life force). Just as light is the carrier of energy across the cosmos, prana is said to flow through the body, bringing vitality and awareness. Both light and prana are seen as intermediaries between the physical and metaphysical, linking the material world to the divine.

Conclusion

The speed of light offers a unique lens through which to view the intersection of science and spirituality. In science, light defines the boundaries of time and space; in Eastern esoteric traditions, it symbolizes the divine, eternal consciousness. Both perspectives suggest that light is not just a physical phenomenon but a deeper principle connecting all of existence. By understanding light in both scientific and spiritual contexts, we uncover a profound truth: the path to transcendence—whether through physics or meditation—lies in aligning with the timeless, luminous essence that pervades the universe.

10 years ago exactly today, I found myself in the company of my good friend Wim Hof, the Iceman, and unknowingly stepped into a journey that would change my life forever. ❄️

What began as a personal practice of the Wim Hof Method soon grew into a mission – a calling to explore the limits of human potential and share this powerful movement with the world. Over the last decade, I’ve had the privilege of becoming an instructor, organizing life-changing events, and traveling across the globe to witness firsthand the profound transformations in people who embrace the method.

This journey has been about so much more than breathwork, cold exposure, and mindset. It’s been about unlocking the inner strength that resides within all of us – the strength to overcome adversity, rise above our fears, and push beyond what we once thought possible. 🔥

Today, as I continue teaching and guiding others, I realize that the true power of this work lies not just in the method itself but in the lives it touches, the minds it frees, and the hearts it empowers. Now, I leave behind pieces of this puzzle for others to discover in their own time, walking with them as they unlock their fullest potential.

Here’s to 10 years of growth, resilience, and purpose. And to the countless lives that will continue to be transformed on this path. 💪
