A wonderful day training staff at Villanova College in Mental Health First Aid. With 2 in 5 youth (39%) suffering one of the common mental illnesses in the next 12 months, these are the people who can make a huge difference.
In what is a busy time for them, I congratulate them on the focus, engagement and willingness to step outside their comfort zones so they can better support the students in their care.
Thank you John Christie for your organisation.

When noted psychologist Michael Carr Gregg states that MHFA Youth course shoul be mandatory for all teachers, surely school leaders listen.

Please have a read and then reach out to have a chat about how we can work together to get your teaching (and Support) staff trained and accredited as MHFA'ers.

Are your staff equipped to do the work you expect of them? That is the first requirement for workplace wellbeing - more important than a vast array of preventative psychosocial programs currently touted. It was wonderful to spend Saturday with the amazing team from Shilleena's Dance Academy. Shilleena and her dance teachers completed the MHFA Youth course (blended, face-to-face).
The Youth Mental Health First Aid course teaches participants how to provide initial support to a young person (aged 12–18) who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received, or the crisis resolves.
Well done SDA.

Improved outcomes

After over 30 years working with students to assist them to achieve positive outcomes, I know that the process works. My process develops techniques, attitudes, skills and knowledge to increases the self efficacy of the students I work with.

The students did achieve better results. On average the students increased results by a full GPA point. Perhaps more importantly they increased their ability to manage themselves, their time and their stress levels. They developed an ability to cope with anything that confronts them both in school and out, they have the tools they need to create positive outcomes.
