This morning a group of ladies enjoyed a hike in Morialta where they headed to Third Falls via Hogans Track. Great hiking conditions, though care was taken on some of the steeper sections which were a little slippery after the rain we had. The sound of flowing water was lovely for all to hear!

Well done to all who took part.

CAFE CONNECT

We are excited to let our community know that we are trialling the introduction of shorter urban/coastal walks into our walking program. This is in response to feedback we have received seeking shorter/easier walks.

We are calling these walks 'Cafe Connect', as each walk will be followed by an opportunity to 'connect' at a cafe at the completion of the walk with a cuppa and conversation☕🍰

To trial this initiative, we have added two 'Cafe Connect' walks during August and we would love for you to join us!

Friday 22nd August (10am to 12pm)
Cafe Connect - Oakden (4km)
Event Link - https://www.wisewomenwalking.org.au/index.cfm?module=event&pagemode=indiv&page_id=3054450

Friday 29th August (10am to 12pm)
Cafe Connect - St Clair Wetlands (4km)
Event Link - https://www.wisewomenwalking.org.au/index.cfm?module=event&pagemode=indiv&page_id=3054466

If you would like to find out more about either walk, or want to register, please click on the links above or email us at wisewomenwalking@outlook.com
We are always keen for your feedback/suggestions :-)

A great evening was had at our Exurbia Gear Night which was held last night.

We are extremely grateful to the staff of Exurbia who shared their knowledge and tips in relation to daypacks, hiking poles, water bladders, wet weather gear, layering of clothing and much more. We all left with more knowledge and practical ideas to make our future adventures even better.

Congratulations to our three prize winners and a huge thank you to Exurbia for donating the wonderful prizes the prize recipients won!

Exurbia have been strong supporters of our club since our inception and we look forward to continuing this wonderful relationship into the future.

This morning a lovely group of women walked the Wine Shanty Trail in Cleland National Park. Lots of smiles and conversations were had during the walk, with also some quiet time to allow walkers to tune into the sounds around them, and their senses.

If you have never done the Wine Shanty Trail before, it is a 10km loop that has some mild undulations as well as a few steeper sections to challenge walkers. Well done to the group who completed it today!

Over the weekend we had two walks on offer.

On Saturday we held a walk in Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park where walkers enjoyed a beautiful foggy morning. Kaiserstuhl is a hidden gem in the Barossa region which we highly recommend to anyone who loves a peaceful nature walk. One of the walkers spotted a tawny frog mouth!

Then on Sunday a group enjoy the beauty of Belair National Park, walking the Belair Waterfall Hike. The conditions were quite warm for a Winter's day. Well done all!

Our August newsletter was emailed out recently which included information about what to bring to our walks, upcoming gear night, navigation workshop details, August/September WWW walk locations and more. If you would like to receive our newsletter, please email us at wisewomenwalking@outlook.com and we can add you to our email list.

One of the articles within our latest newsletter covered National Parks and Wildlife Services (NPWS) ‘Park of the Month’ for August, which focusses on 'Volunteers in Parks'.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all who volunteer within all our National, Conservation and Recreation Parks throughout South Australia. A huge number of volunteers contribute to the upkeep of all of our parks including campground hosts, individuals and groups restoring native flora and fauna and significant sites, volunteer park rangers and so much more!

Did you know you too can lend a hand as a volunteer in a location/role that may suit you? Head to this link to find out more:
