U-BEACH has been selected to be a project featured in the CQUniversity Australia appeal. We are currently fundraising to launch U-BEACH Mon Repos. This would support easy access to beach mobility aids 364 days per year as well as activate the Mon Repos turtle encounter as an accessible experience!! 🌊 Mackay U-BEACH community beach day wrap-up

What a day! Despite some overnight rain that kept a few away, those who made it out were treated to perfect beach weather — and even better company.

The joy was undeniable. Smiles, laughter, and moments of awe made this day unforgettable. For many, it was their first-ever trip to the beach with friends, family, and carers — and what made it truly special was the connection. This event wasn’t just about sun and surf — it was about belonging, community, and making new friends.

More than any event we’ve hosted, this one felt like a celebration of togetherness. Watching new friendships form and seeing people experience the beach barrier-free was incredibly moving.

A huge shoutout to Helen and the team at Engedi Therapy — your support made this day not only possible, but truly magical. 💙

Let’s go to the beach Mackay!

Overnight rain has packed the sand perfectly – ideal conditions for beach access and fun. The daytime forecast is looking goods, but it’s still smart to pack for a possible shower.

Come down, enjoy the beach, and make the most of this inclusive beach day!

Can you help make our U-BEACH Mackay Community Beach Day a success? We are looking for volunteers to support people with disability to visit the beach and participate in beach activities!

• Date: Friday 30th May
• Location: Harbour Beach
• Time: 8am-1pm (event 9am-12pm)

Duties: setup and packup of equipment, wheelchair transfers (hoist and standing), assisting mobility (wheelchair, 4WW, assistance without aids), having tonnes of fun getting involved in beach activities, conducting surveys, selling fundraising raffle tickets, photography and media.
