💙 Today is International Men’s Day, a chance to recognise the men and boys in our lives and highlight supports that strengthen their mental health and wellbeing.
This year’s theme, Supporting Men and Boys, encourages us to celebrate positive role models, check in with the men and boys around us, and create spaces where they feel safe to open up.
Want to support a mate? Try:
🩵 Asking “How are you going, really?”
🩵 Encouraging early help-seeking
🩵 Pointing them to local supports (or helping them make the first call)
🩵 Letting the men and boys in your life know they’re appreciated
Year 12 is wrapping up, and your young person is stepping into a new phase of life. 🌱
This transition can bring mixed emotions for everyone. You might feel excited about their growing independence, or a bit apprehensive about stepping back. And that's completely normal.
Parenting a young adult looks different for every family, and there's no right or wrong way to navigate it.
Learn more tips for supporting your young person through this transition. Read our full article on parenting a young adult.

Whether it’s a game loot box, a bet on the weekend match, or a quick spin online, it can all feel harmless in the moment. 🎮🎰💸
But when money’s involved, it’s easy for fun to turn into stress.
This , take a step back, check in with yourself (or your mates), and remember, the odds are rarely in your favour.
If gambling is starting to feel less like fun and more like pressure, there’s support available. Learn more at growingstrongereurobodalla.com.au/gambling.

headspace Batemans Bay is a federally funded initiative being implemented by Coordinare, South Eastern NSW Primary Healthcare Network, in partnership with headspace National. Relationships Australia Canberra & Region, a not-for-profit service provider, has been awarded the role of lead agency to oversee the headspace service in Batemans Bay from late 2020. Following the wake of the 2019/20 Summer bushfires that impacted the wider Eurobodalla and Shoalhaven regions, the Batemans Bay headspace service was fast tracked to commence providing early intervention mental health services to young people aged 12 to 25 living in the Eurobodalla and Shoalhaven regions.
Referral is easy – young people can refer themselves by calling us on 1800 718 383 between the hours of 10am to 2pm Monday-Friday. Counselling appointments are available for booking Monday to Friday. If you are a family member, friend, or service provider and want to support a young person to get in touch with us, you can call us, complete and fax through our community referral form found online on our website or have a young person attend their local GP clinic to for referral (MHTPs are not required to access our services).
Due to Covid-19 physical distancing measures, headspace Batemans Bay currently only offers online and phone counselling services. Please stay tuned to our online accounts for updates including community engagement initiatives and the development of our centre establishment.
The headspace website also offers a wide range of national online services. Here, you can access lots of great mental health resources including group chats, online communities, interactive resources and 1:1 direct support with professionals. Watch this video to learn more about this, or visit headspace.org.au to create your own private account.
