And hello again! 🔌 It’s been a while 🤗 as I have been tucked away on a dry riverbed in the Limpopo of Botswana with my boy. Crazy good. Crazy relaxing. Just us two AND as many wild animals as we could sit and wait and watch and sit and wait and watch. What’s that bird? 🦅 Look at that tree! 🌴 Tracks, s**t 💩 and landscapes to squint and scour in hope of the next roll of the animal presence dice. 🐆 Heaven! So much to absorb. Into our bones. Into our very being. Sights, sounds, experiences. Until the next. 🌈 Watching my [joyously lengthy, sorry-not-sorry] movie of goodness, it’s the sounds that transport me back. The throaty cough of the Cruiser start. 💚The sandgrouse 🪶 twee-twee at very last light. At least one bat flying wingman. 🦇 Gav’s shovel purposefully shifting coals for our braai [BBQ]. 🔥 The gentle snap of a branch signalling 🐘!Bird calls, endless bird calls. Hippo 🦛 bubbles. Bush everything.Life! What transports you to your last time out of time? Your last unplug? Holiday? Weekend? Day? Evening out? Morning break? Is it a sound, a smell, a taste, an image that pops up on your phone or wall? Is it proudly displayed under a fridge magnet of equal holiday fun? What zooms you right back there? 💨 Whatever your portkey 🥾, grab hold and let it transport you to the moment, the goodness, the excitement or silky relaxation of that time. Big or teeny tiny, small. Pause. Feel. Breathe in. Hours unplugged are golden. I wish you some! Past, present, future. Enjoy! So here I am. Returned to life, slowly and just loving the idea of tying this holiday feeling to my real world now I am home. I’ve tried it before with varied success but THIS time I am committed to trying it WITH you! Hey! It worked for my alcohol-free July. Why the heck not use you all to keep me on track and test the theory, eh? ;-) Follow along as I allow my “holiday-every-day” to unravel. Wherever this takes us, may it bring you ease and joy. 🤭
