"What makes a fire burn is space between the logs, a breathing space.
Too much of a good thing, too many logs packed in too tight can douse the flames almost as surely as a pail of water would." ~ Judy Brown

Australian icon Noni Hazlehurst makes a brilliant speech and pitches a new style tv channel, the likes of which we've never seen. Let's hope we can make this a reality.

“I suspect that almost none of us here watching is immune from the growing incidents of depression, anxiety and su***de. We all know people who are struggling, we may be ourselves, and too many of our kids are. We are all living under a heavy and constant cloud of negativity. We are divided against each other and our fellow human beings, we find it hard to trust, and we are fearful of the future. I think it’s because we are surrounded by bad news and examples of our basest human behaviour. I fear that our hearts are growing cold.”

“Here’s my pitch: I’d love a channel that features nothing but stories that inspire us and reassure us and our children that there are good things happening and good things in the world. I know it’s a lot to ask for, but at the very least a show that tries to address this overwhelming imbalance that counters bad news with good. That encourages optimism, not pessimism. That restores our empathy our love for our fellow human beings and the earth. That redefines reality. That heals our hearts. And, by the way, I’m available.”

"Try this right now: pause in your busy day for a moment to notice how you feel. Is your jaw clenched, your shoulders tight, your body tensed? Do you notice a part of your body that is feeling tension around something you’re worried about or feeling anxiety about? Is there a part of your mind that’s feeling the same kind of tension?"

Is stress building up in you? Is it lowering the quality of your life a bit? Here's how you can let it go.

"We all want life to be a certain way. We want the conditions to be just so, and life doesn’t always cooperate. Maybe it does for awhile, which makes us want to hold on tight to how things are, but then things change.

Often we react by blaming…ourselves, or others or the situation. We might become aggressive. Or perhaps we feel victimised and resign. Or sometimes we soothe ourselves with extra food or drink. But clearly, none of these reactions are helpful."
