A traveler sustaining a large open fracture through their scull from a boat propeller. Working together with the insurance company, cruise ship operator, helicopter retrieval team, hospitals and ground ambulances our team was able to conduct a successful medevac to transport the patient to lifesaving surgery. A big thanks to our team and everyone involved.

Safety is always our top priority when treating and transporting patients across the globe. As today is World Patient Safety Day, we should look at how the COVID-19 pandemic has unveiled the huge challenges health workers are facing globally. The WHO's 2020 campaign to focus on the interrelationship between health worker safety and patient safety, depicted in the slogan ‘Safe health workers, Safe patients’ is a timely reminder that a safe working environment for health workers ensures patient safety and is a culture that MEDEVAC.FLIGHTS implements daily.

MEDEVAC.FLIGHTS recently performed a repatriation of a patient from Vietnam back to Australia. Special permissions were given by the Australian, Queensland, and Victorian Chief Health Officers to allow this mission to proceed. In the current climate of restrictions on travel, this mission required approval from government departments, border control, immigration officials, airport representatives as well as ground transport providers in both countries. The mission proceeded smoothly and efficiently, and the patient is now recovering in Australia.
