Flourish Mind and Body Specialists in the natural treatment of SIBO and IBS (gut pain, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation). Book online consults with nutritionist Carmela Rosato.

Online, we sell high-quality SIBO products, self-guided kits, treatment programs and meal plans. I experienced first hand the power of good diet and a healthy lifestyle during my recovery from lymphoma 10 years ago. I immediately went back to college to study nutrition formally so that I could use my knowledge to help others. Why focus on Lyme disease and autoimmune disease? I am very saddened to see so many hundreds of thousands of people suffering from chronic diseases, particularly Lyme disease, without getting the help and support they need. There is so much you can do just by introducing the right foods into your diet. Also, natural therapies, such as herbal supplementation and detoxification practices, as an adjunct to conventional treatments, can have so much impact on your well being and recovery. I don't claim to know everything about these diseases and they are very complex, but if you have any questions about natural methods to help your condition, please post on here and I will do what I can to answer them. I also provide consultations in person and on Skype. So wherever you are in the world, I may be able to help you. Please visit my website for more information or to book a consultation.

🦠 Fermented Foods & SIBO/IBS: Why They Can Make Things Worse 🦠

If you’re dealing with SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), you might want to hit pause on fermented foods. While these foods are often praised for their health benefits (think probiotics!), they can be a double-edged sword when it comes to SIBO or IBS.

Here’s why:

1. Probiotics in fermented foods can feed bacteria that have overgrown in the small intestine, worsening the problem instead of fixing it.

2. Fermented foods contain excess histamines – which may further aggravate symptoms like bloating, fatigue, and brain fog, making SIBO flare-ups even more intense.

3. Lactic acid in fermented foods can cause lactic acidosis. Tell-tale symptoms include brain fog, fatigue and nausea.

🤔 Bottom line: Fermented foods are great for building a healthy gut, but it's best to wait until you have successfully treated SIBO/IBS first.

🌿 Feeling bloated even after treating SIBO? Here’s what to do next! 🌟

Treating SIBO is a major step toward better gut health, but sometimes that stubborn bloating can stick around. If you’ve tackled SIBO and your bloating hasn’t budged, don’t worry — you’re not alone. Here’s what you can do:

1. Get tested: It might be that you haven’t entirely treated the overgrowth. A SIBO breath test can tell you definitively whether or not there is still some bacteria lurking. See our bio where you can contact us to organise a test.

2. Be mindful of diet: Go slowly when reintroducing trigger foods, try one food at a time and only reintroduce each one when you are sure it doesn’t create symptoms.

3. Use a prokinetic: A prokinetic is a must for ensuring good motility and preventing SIBO from returning. See our store for the best prokinetics (link in our bio).

4. Probiotic power: Sometimes, restoring the balance of good bacteria in your gut with the right probiotics can help reduce bloating. The best way to start is to use SIBO-friendly probiotics, such as spore-based probiotics or L reuteri. See our store for the best probiotics (link in our bio, or head to flourishmindandbody.com).

5. Digestive enzymes: Supplementing with digestive enzymes can aid in breaking down food more effectively, easing that bloated feeling. See our store for top quality digestive enzymes (link in our bio, or head to flourishmindandbody.com).

Don’t lose hope — better days (and a happier tummy) are ahead!

Good health to you.💚

This one is so easy.

INGREDIENTS - SERVES 4

2 ripe avocados
1 tbsp non-dairy milk (avoid any with thickeners)
stevia, to taste
2 dessertspoons of coconut oil, melted
3 dessertspoons of cacao powder (or cocoa)
⅓ tsp peppermint extract
pinch of Himalayan pink salt (or other unprocessed salt)

METHOD

Blend together.
If consistency is too thick, add a little more non-dairy milk.
Spoon into dessert dishes and set for a couple of hours in the fridge.

Good health to you.
