As a psychotherapist with a unique perspective shaped by my experience as an educator and child protection officer, I've come to understand deeply how our inner dialogue, or self-talk, profoundly influences our mental health. In my line of work, I've witnessed the lasting impact of childhood experiences on individuals' beliefs about themselves and the world around them. Children who have faced adversity often internalise negative messages, leading to self-doubt, low self-esteem, and a sense of unworthiness.

In therapy, I draw from my experience working with children and families to help clients recognise and challenge these ingrained beliefs. Just like the children I've supported, many adults continue to carry these burdens into their lives, replaying harmful scripts in their minds that were written long ago. But through our work together, we can rewrite those narratives.

I've seen firsthand the transformative power of changing our self-talk. By guiding clients through the process of identifying and reframing their inner dialogue, we begin to chip away at the barriers that have held them back for so long. It's a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, where clients learn to cultivate compassion and kindness toward themselves.

This is not just anecdotal – research supports the effectiveness of cognitive restructuring techniques, such as changing our self-talk, in improving mental health outcomes. By integrating these evidence-based practices with my real-world experience, I offer clients a holistic approach to healing and growth.
