Our Philosophy:

The Gambling Help Online page is a supportive place for anyone making change in their gambling, as well as concerned friends and family. The page is for people who are over 18 and living in Australia, where they can access and share helpful information, stories and support options. It is a space where everyone should feel welcome and safe. Posting and Commenting

While this page is moderated and facilitated under a clinical framework, please keep in mind that this community is not a crisis or counselling service. Please note that the page is moderated 9am-9pm AEST. To ensure that this community remains a safe and supportive environment, you must at all times comply with the following:

• Keep it respectful and supportive –Never discriminate, defame or belittle others. Bullying, hostility, embarrassment or trolling will not be tolerated. Profane words will be automatically removed.

• Keep it neutral – We encourage you to share your own experiences, however please try and keep it as general as possible. Don’t name other people, organisations or products.

• Focus on recovery – Consider the experience of yourself and other members. Do not promote gambling of any kind or in any capacity, or any money access schemes which could fuel the gambling of other

• Recognise others’ triggers – While triggers can vary depending on the individual, there are some common topics which can be difficult when managing urges or maintaining change. We aim to minimise this - see our ‘Please avoid’ list below for further information.

• This is a support space – our page is a place to find, share and ask for information relating to the effects of gambling. Any commercial or professional advice from anyone except for our facilitators will not be allowed. This includes legal, financial or medical advice, SPAM activity, research requests or posts demonstrating commercial interests. Please avoid posting about:

• Mentioning the specific amount of a win – instead we ask that you use general statements such as “a big win”.

• Being over-descriptive about types of gambling. Please use general statements like “pokies”, “betting” and “gaming”, rather than machine names, or styles of betting.

• Talking about odds and jackpot amounts. Please don’t describe specifically what odds are/were.

• Graphic or specific details of self-harm, suicide or violent actions

Under no circumstances should any content be posted that:
• advertises or endorses any products or services of any other organisation without express written authority from Eastern Health (Turning Point);

• personally identifies any other person without their express consent (including Turning Point consumers and employees);

• is defamatory, offensive, abusive, threatening or contains any sexually explicit or violent material or promotes any illegal activity;

• contains any abhorrent violent material (as that term is defined in the Criminal Code Amendment (Sharing of Abhorrent Violent Material) Act 2019) including audio, visual or audio-visual material that records or streams abhorrent violent conduct including a terrorist act, murder, attempted murder, torture, rape or kidnapping;

• promotes discrimination of a person or group based on background or personal characteristics; or
