This week we observed National Palliative Care week, in recognition of the compassionate and expert care Cabrini’s Palliative and Supportive care team provide to people living with life-limiting illnesses.
Our primary aim is to optimise our patients’ quality of life. We focus on providing comfort and
support throughout across our health facilities and in the home and specialise in complex
symptom management in our inpatient unit.
Our commitment to continuous professional development and best practice care is generously
supported by Cabrini Foundation donors. We are so grateful for the generous gift that has allowed
us to create a dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator position to support Palliative and Oncology nursing
care at Cabrini.
The impact of this support is significant, and has enabled us to appoint a highly specialised and
experienced Palliative Care Clinical Educator, Sharmalie Wijesinghe.
This important new role is focussed on continued education within the ward, to promote the
professional development of individual nurses and enhance their clinical skills, ensuring Cabrini
patients and family receive the best possible care.
We are deeply grateful to the generous Foundation donors who have made this possible - ensuring
the best quality of life, comfort and support for Cabrini’s most vulnerable patients.
“I express my gratitude to our generous donors. I am deeply committed to my profession to
care for these special people with professionalism and respect. A patient is not just a patient
but an individual person with a story that needs to be heard.”
