Salpingectomy — the removal of fallopian tubes is more than just a surgical procedure. It can:
Significantly reduce the risk of ovarian cancer
Provide permanent contraception
Be performed safely during other gynaecological surgeries without causing early menopause

Research shows that many ovarian cancers actually begin in the fallopian tubes. By removing them opportunistically, women can take an important preventive step for their long-term health and wellbeing.

As a Gynaecologist and Fertility Doctor consulting across Melbourne, I am here to guide you with personalised care and informed options for your reproductive health.

Women’s Health Week – Your Wellbeing Matters

This Women’s Health Week is a beautiful reminder that every woman deserves to prioritise her health. Too often, we put our wellbeing last while balancing work, family, and responsibilities but regular gynaecological check-ups are a powerful way to protect your future.

A cervical screening test detects early cervical changes, a self-breast check and breast check help spot changes early, while a mammogram ensures timely breast cancer screening. A pelvic ultrasound helps assess the uterus and ovaries, and a fertility assessment gives clarity about your reproductive health and future choices. Each check-up is not just routine, It’s an investment in peace of mind.

Celebrating Women’s Health Week

This week across Australia, Women’s Health Week is a reminder for every woman to pause and reflect on her wellbeing. Too often, women put their health last while balancing work, family, and endless responsibilities. But the truth is: your health is the foundation that everything else depends on.

Reproductive health is deeply personal and emotional—and every woman’s journey deserves to be respected, understood, and supported.

Struggling with heavy periods that affect your energy and daily life?

For many women, heavy menstrual bleeding isn’t just a monthly inconvenience it can lead to fatigue, low confidence, and interruptions in everyday activities.

One effective treatment option is Endometrial Ablation. This minimally invasive procedure treats the inner lining of the uterus to reduce or even stop heavy bleeding. Unlike a hysterectomy, your uterus is preserved but for many women, the improvement is life-changing.

If you are tired of constantly changing pads, missing out on work, or feeling drained every month, it’s time to explore your treatment options.

Why Fertility Testing is Important

Fertility testing is one of the most important steps for women planning to conceive. These tests provide clarity, remove uncertainty, and give a detailed understanding of reproductive health.

Factors such as hormonal changes, ovarian function, uterine conditions, and blocked fallopian tubes can all affect fertility. With early testing, these concerns can be identified and treated effectively, giving you the best chance of achieving pregnancy.

The most common fertility tests include:
Hormone blood tests
Pelvic ultrasound
Hysterosalpingography (HSG)

These tests are simple, safe, and effective, providing valuable answers and guiding the next steps in your fertility journey. Every woman deserves clarity and confidence while planning parenthood.

World Humanitarian Day is a lovely reminder that our world is at its best when we show compassion.

As a gynaecologist and fertility doctor, I’m constantly amazed by the quiet strength of women, the resilience of families, and how empathy can heal and change lives. It’s often the simplest acts of kindness, like a listening ear, a hand to hold, or a comforting word, that make the biggest difference.

To every humanitarian out there, whether you’re bringing hope to a family, standing by someone during tough times, or simply choosing kindness in your everyday life, you’re the heart and soul of humanity.

Today, I celebrate you, your courage, your compassion, and the light you shine into the world.

IUI vs IVF - The Key Difference

When it comes to fertility treatments, two names you’ll hear most often are IUI and IVF but they’re not the same.

IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) is a simpler procedure where prepared s***m is placed directly into the uterus, and fertilization happens naturally inside the body.

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is more advanced eggs are retrieved, fertilized with s***m in a lab (outside the body), and the resulting embryo is transferred into the uterus.

The choice between IUI and IVF depends on many factors like the cause of infertility, age, and previous treatment history. A thorough consultation can help determine which path is right for you.
