Stress is not the same as DIStress. In fact, we all need some level of healthy stress (or eustress) to grow, learn and adapt.

However, while stress is beneficial in manageable doses, ongoing, or chronic stress and the associated increasing in cortisol levels begin to hinder memory retrieval and impair thinking.

The good news is that by changing our situation (how we respond to stress) and our thinking (how we perceive stress) we have the ability to manage it and turn it into a powerful force to help achieve our goals.

Marissa Downes explains how to make the most of good stress, and how to manage the bad.

We understand the importance of sleep in mental and cognitive health. That’s why, as part of any mental health or performance assessment, we take a close look at your sleep and wake patterns with Actigraphy.

😴 Sleep plays a fundamental role in mental health, by providing rest, energy recovery and healthy regulation of brain activity. Improving sleep hygiene and quality can go a long way in supporting the treatment of mental health conditions such as ADHD, Depression, Anxiety and more.

⌚️ Actigraphy is a wearable assessment tool to analysis of sleep quality which we deliver in our clinics worldwide. An Actigraphy wristband is given to our clients to wear day and night for 7 consecutive days. This special type of smartwatch can measure activity levels, exposure to blue light, sleep and wake times or restlessness in bed, returning a quantitative and objective analysis of your sleep quality.

💤 Good sleep hygiene includes being aware of how much blue light you are exposure to during certain times of the day. Smartphones, tablets, computers, and bright fluorescent light emit a blue spectrum light which should be avoided in the evenings. The Actigraph can monitor blue light exposure, checking whether it affects the quality of sleep.

✏️ Throughout the Actigraphy assessment we also ask you to keep track of other factors, as daily assumption of medications and caffeine, by completing a simple sleep and wake diary.

✅ After we take a look at the data and explain the results to you, a personalized neuromodulation program can then be tailored to help you get your sleep back on track or to deal with a mental condition.
