We miss Long Tan Veteran LT-COL Harry Smith SG MC very much at the ANZAC Ribbon, the loss still feels raw. He was one of our finest.

We are thinking of Harry, along with all our other fallen Veterans this ANZAC Day.

The "COO-EE Wattle" go hand in hand, as it was carried in hats, on the great "Coo-ee Marches".

This post card is remarkable and ANZAC recipients unquestionably treasured it as a souvenir of the war and of the Australian landing, fight, and evacuation of the peninsula. …

The centre-piece is depicting an Australian soldier clad in khaki on the coastal rocks, cooee-ing to his lass, who, with outstretched hands, stands afar off on Australian shores. The battleships of the Navy form a splendid background, while the spray of wattle on the foreground makes the picture essentially Australian.

"Lady Birdwood"; used this Wattle postcard, as a get well message for over 50,000 injured ANZAC troops, making it the most popular Australian postcard of World War 1.

Her Husband Field Marshal William Riddell Birdwood; 1st Baron Birdwood, GCB, GCSI, GCMG, GCVO, CIE, DSO, was the "Commander of the Gallipoli Campaign"

WW1 Postcard to the troops

In fond remembrance distance cannot sever
My hand's outstretched in greeting
With a clasp that's warm and true
and o'er the seas dividing
My thoughts go out to you

Wattle Blossom
Clusters rich and golden,
Nodding in the breeze,
Waft your lovely perfume,
Far o'er the Southern Seas
