Is CHSP changing under the Support at Home program?
..short answer is
..not yet

CHSP will continue to at least 30 June 2027...

The Government has not committed to merging CHSP into the Support at Home program on 1 July 2027 just yet...
..as it is a big job

At CT, we are a registered CHSP provider of allied health services across the Central Coast and Hunter...
..so if you have any questions about CHSP (as we know it can be confusing)...
..just ask us!

The NDIS Pricing Review is out...

The NDIA released the Annual Pricing Review (APR) as part of informing what NDIS pricing will look like for the 2026 - 2027 financial year

There is commentary in the APR about sustainability concerns for providers as well as the concept of differentiated pricing

It is positive that the NDIA has acknowledged sustainability concerns for providers...
..we hope it results in appropriate pricing of all services, including allied health, and indexation of participant plans

Commentary on differentiated pricing as well is welcome and we look forward to reviewing further information on this from the NDIA in due course

At CT we want a sustainable NDIS which supports people living with disabilities, is free of fraudulent behaviour and delivers a strong social and financial return on investment of our country

You can learn more about the APR here - https://loom.ly/sPmEk4Y

The survey closes on 8 February 2026.

Support at Home and participant contributions for equipment...
..it can be confusing...we know πŸ˜₯

Assistive Technology falls under the independence category in the Support at Home program...
..which means that equipment is subject to participant contributions
..full pensioners pay 5%
..part pensioners pay 5-50% depending on asset testing
..self funded retirees pay 50%

Now the Assistive Technology budget can be up to $15,000 (more can be accessed if required as it is not subject to lifetime caps unlike home modifications)

This budget is what the Government will contribute

So if a participant required $20,000 worth of equipment (e.g a pressure area mattress, adjustable bed, pressure area compliant chair and equipment in their bathroom)...
..and they were a self funded retiree
..then the Government will pay $10,000
..and the participant will pay $10,000

Support at Home is new...
..there are lots of new rules
..and providers and participants are all learning together

If you are a participant with questions, ask your provider

And if you are a participant or provider and feel stuck...
..ask us!

Support at Home and Capped Prices πŸ€”
..there is more reform to come

Lot's has changed in community aged care with the Support at Home program replacing HCP and STRC....
..but come 1 July 2026 (this year!!)
..we will see the introduction of capped prices (similar to the NDIS)

IHACPA is responsible for providing pricing guidance to the Government...
..as they already do for residential aged care

At Community Therapy, we are continuing to work closely with our partner organisations as we navigate the reform to ensure older adults across the Central Coast, Hunter and Mid Coast continue to have access to our amazing allied health services 😊

We love these yarns with the team...
..lots of clinical questions
..but lots of random questions too!!

Nice to remember that health professionals are just people...
..and we enjoy an enormous range of hobbies and passions
..just like our clients do

Interestingly, there is strong evidence for what we call "narrative" based medicine too...
..where you let clients or patients tell their story
..rather than just ask clinical question after clinical question

It allows meaningful goals to be identified easier...
..and results in a better healthcare experience

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!!!Enjoy this special time with loved ones.....laugh hard..share beautiful food..stori...

"I can get in and out of the car easier..."

Lynn is already seeing the benefits of exercise

Our grant funded exercise groups for seniors provide a safe space to learn exercises that are suitable for older adults
...and you get to meet new people and form friendships ✨

We run groups across the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie and Maitland regions at present

Thank you to the Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network for supporting early intervention exercise for seniors across our community

Ros cooking up a storm πŸ‘©β€πŸ³

Ros is currently participating in the 'Your Plate Your Way' program at CT...
..what is this you ask?

It is a Dietetics led program that supports the development of cooking and meal preparation skills

Due to therapeutic dietary recommendations for her health conditions...
..and a prescribed texture-modified diet for safe swallowing

Ros requires custom recipes tailored to her preferences and needs

Ros has been supported to build skills across several recipes

Most recently, they created a texture-modified Christmas Cake with nostalgic flavours

Since Ros previously struggled with dry cakes and hard dried fruit, the Dietitian created a soaked, blended fruit mixture

This significantly increased the cake's moisture content while reducing the risk associated with dried fruit in its typical form

Ros was very happy with the end result after successfully making the recipe

Previously, they successfully developed a low-lactose vegetable muffin recipe that met all her nutritional requirements for a snack option

Across these two sessions, Ros has demonstrated improved confidence and has tried new skills in the kitchen

She has successfully made dishes suitable for her needs with assistance

Ros is a pleasure to work with and is always full of ideas for what she would like to cook next

Wisdom with every cuppa β˜•οΈ

In aged care, connection often involves a chat at the kitchen table

Clients love to share stories about their lives

the things they’ve learned

and the advice they wish someone had given them sooner

Emily says she often leaves a visit with just as much perspective as she brings

We all feel privileged at CT to support older adults to live longer and better

And it is a blessing to learn from our elders at the same time πŸ₯°
