Bilateral Facelift (Meloplasty), Neck lift (Platysmaplasty) and Bitemporal Brow Lift (Browplasty)

Patient had previous upper and lower blepharoplasty surgery performed elsewhere.

1 year post op

When considering patient requirements for facial rejuvenation, Dr Chris Ahn takes a holistic view of the face rather than isolating single areas. Aging occurs across multiple planes of the face - the brow, midface, jawline and neck - so achieving balanced results often requires addressing these regions together.

By combining procedures, harmony is maintained between the upper, mid, and lower face, avoiding the “piecemeal” look that can occur when surgery is limited to one area. This comprehensive approach provides a more complete and longer-lasting rejuvenation.

Outcomes shown are relevant for this patient and do not necessarily reflect the results other patients may experience. Results may vary due to many factors.

Bilateral Upper Eyelid Incisional Double Eyelid Blepharoplasty. 2 part surgery.

8 months post initial surgery
2 months post second stage surgery.

This patient underwent double eyelid surgery in two stages - an approach that is sometimes needed to achieve the most balanced and refined results.

Eyelids are one of the most complex anatomical areas on the face, with subtle asymmetries and differences in skin, fat, and muscle tone between sides. Small variations in tissue response, healing, or underlying asymmetry may become apparent once postoperative swelling has fully resolved. In these cases a second-stage procedure can be considered to address residual imbalance or refine crease definition.

This approach isn't planned for every patient from the outset - but when needed it allows for targeted adjustment and a more balanced and subtle result.

Outcomes shown are relevant for this patient and do not necessarily reflect the results other patients may experience. Results may vary due to many factors.

Dr Chris Ahn recently presented at Northern Beaches Hospital’s Grand Rounds, speaking with colleagues about breast reconstruction options following mastectomy.

In Australia, 40% of patients diagnosed with breast cancer undergo a mastectomy, yet only 1 in 5 of those patients go on to have a reconstruction. In contrast, overseas that number is closer to 50%.

The difference isn't surgical ability - its patient education and timely referral. Too many patients are either unaware that reconstruction is an option or receive the information too late to consider it as part of their treatment plan.
While reconstruction may not be appropriate for every individual, all patients deserve the opportunity to make an informed decision early in their breast cancer journey.

Engaging hospital teams, including medical, nursing and allied health staff, is key to improving access and outcomes in breast reconstruction.

Septorhinoplasty with deviation correction

12 months post op

This patient sustained nasal trauma resulting in nasal deviation and functional obstruction. Dr Chris Ahn performed a septorhinoplasty to correct the deviation whilst deliberately preserving the natural nasal tip and profile shape.

Outcomes shown are relevant for this patient and do not necessarily reflect the results other patients may experience. Results may vary due to many factors.

Planning facial surgery? Here’s why PDO threads could post problems later.

PDO Threads are often promoted as a quick “dissolvable” lift - but the reality is more complicated.

The Threads pictured were removed during a rhinoplasty surgery 4.5 years after insertion.
Despite claims that threads dissolve in 6-12 months, we often find they remain much longer. Once dissolved they can leave residual scarring, which can distort natural anatomy.

Scar tissue and thread remnants can interfere with rhinoplasty and facelift planning by obscuring the nasal planes and altering skin tension and tissue mobility. This makes rhinoplasty’s, facelifts, brow lifts and other facial surgeries more difficult to plan.
The foreign material and scarring left behind can cause an increased risk in:
• imperfections
• wound healing issues
• skin necrosis
• infection during surgery

If you’re planning a future facial surgery consider avoiding threads.

Bilateral non-incisional double eyelid procedure

3 months post-op

One of the biggest advantages of non-incisional eyelid surgery is minimal downtime.

Because there is no cutting of the skin, recovery is faster, swelling is reduced, and patients can often return to work and social activities within a few days.

This technique is ideal for patients seeking natural eyelid definition without the commitment of a long recovery.

Outcomes shown are relevant for this patient and do not necessarily reflect the results other patients may experience. Results may vary due to many factors.

Just because it’s cooler doesn’t mean you can skip your skin check.
Winter is the ideal time to be proactive with skin checks and take action if something isn’t right.
Here are 3 reasons why:

1. Skin cancers don’t take a season off. Melanomas and other skin cancers still develop in winter - but you’re less likely to notice changes when you are covered up in layers.

2. Treatments are often better tolerated in winter. Topical therapies like immunotherapy & chemotherapy creams can be easier to manage in cooler months. Surgical removal and healing are also more comfortable when you are not swimming or exposed to summer sun.

3. UV is still high in Australia, even in winter. UV radiation doesn’t rely on heat. Cloudy or cold days can still expose you to harmful UV levels.

If you’ve noticed a skin change, or haven’t had a check in a while - now is the time to schedule a skin check with your GP or Dermatologist.
Dr Chris Ahn offers surgical removal of lesions when needed.

Winter is a great time to act. Your skin will thank you.

Bilateral Incisional Double Eyelid Blepharoplasty

3 months post-op

In patients requiring a more extensive skin resection, particularly in older patients, it is expected that the eyes may take longer to settle and achieve their final, natural appearance. This is a normal part of the healing process and reflects the tailored approach needed for each patients anatomy and surgical goals.
Every eye is unique, and healing is an individual journey.

Outcomes shown are relevant for this patient and do not necessarily reflect the results other patients may experience. Results may vary due to many factors.

Bilateral non-incisional double eyelid procedure

6 weeks post-op

Dr Chris Ahn’s non-incisional double eyelid procedure creates a natural, defined eyelid crease without cutting the skin. A single suture is threaded along 5 anchor points to create a fold line. This technique means less swelling, no visible scar, and a quicker recovery when compared to the traditional incisional method.

This technique is not suitable to all patients. We recommend booking a consultation with Dr Ahn to see which type of upper eyelid surgery is right for you.

Bilateral Transconjunctival Lower Blepharoplasty (posterior approach)

3 months post-op

The transconjunctival blepharoplasty means the surgery is performed inside the lower eyelid (instead of cutting the skin). This is called a posterior approach and avoids any visible scars on the outside.
It is ideal for patients with under-eye puffiness or bulging fat causing “bags” but have limited loose skin. This technique focuses on fat contouring without removing excess skin.
No stitches are needed on the skin, and healing is usually faster with less visible swelling and bruising.

Outcomes shown are relevant for this patient and do not necessarily reflect the results other patients may experience. Results may vary due to many factors.
