As Chanukah ends—a time that reminds us of resilience, hope, and the triumph of light over darkness—Osteopathy Australia sends its deepest condolences to all those affected by the recent tragic events in Bondi.
We stand with Australia’s Jewish community, and we share in your grief. Hate has no place in our society, and violence is never the answer. We condemn in the strongest possible terms the divisions and fear these attacks seek to create.
As health professionals, whether in the way we approach our patients or in the mateship we show each other every day, we believe our greatest strength as Australians comes from compassion, empathy, and care for one another. These values are at the heart of osteopathy and guide our commitment to inclusion and unity.
We recognise that distressing events and news coverage like this can have a profound impact on mental health. If you or someone you know is feeling distressed, please reach out for support:
• Members Counselling Service
• Lifeline: 13 11 14
• Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636
Additionally, Lifeblood has issued urgent calls for O negative blood donations following the incident. If you are able, please consider making an appointment in the coming days and weeks.
Our hearts are with Bondi, with the Jewish community, and with all those affected by this tragedy. Together, let us stand against hate and work toward a future defined by compassion and unity.

Osteopathy focuses on the whole body to promote healing, by aiming to improve the body’s circulation, mobility and overall wellbeing.
Osteopaths believe that the body has the ability to recover when it’s in the right balance and position.
Using a combination of traditional and modern healthcare philosophies, osteopaths generally use non-invasive forms of therapy like muscle soft-tissue work, joint mobilisation or manipulation, stretching and exercises, combined with education and advice to support the body’s natural healing processes.

Many elbow injuries - like tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow - are often caused by overuse. Sometimes, weakness in the shoulder or repetitive wrist and hand movements can also play a part.
An osteopath may take the time to understand your health history, assess your elbow and surrounding areas and consider factors that may be contributing to your discomfort before developing a care plan tailored to you.

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is held on 3 December each year.
In Australia, 5.5 million people live with disability. Osteopaths may help people with physical disabilities or other disabilities that have a physical impact to live as independently as possible within their home, school or local community. For example, they will observe your movement and function in specific environments to assess how this may be improved and how any pain or discomfort may be relieved.

However, if you plan to have your osteo treatment covered by health insurance, some insurance plans may require a referral from your GP or specialist to authorise coverage for osteopathic treatment.
