What a beautiful weekend of Reiki! ✨🥰✨

As these students had already spent time with their foundational practices from learning Level 1 Shoden, it was really clear how much had already opened for them by the time they arrived for Level 2 Okuden (Part 1).

Throughout the weekend, as we moved deeper into contemplating the practice, their curiosity was alive and it was so beautiful to witness their deepening understanding of their own spiritual and healing paths over the course of the weekend.

This was evident in the depth of the questions asked which made for such rich and moving conversation and reflection amongst the group. There were many tender moments amongst as students all reflected on their own paths and journeys.

At this level there are also a lot of specific traditional techniques taught and practicing them on each other is so much fun! What really stayed with me, reflecting on the weekend, was how much joy and laughter we shared together!!

Reiki is love! That’s really what was felt so deeply by us all this weekend! 🙏🏽🤍✨

Taking a quiet moment this morning to sit in practice before welcoming students for Part 1 of Okuden (Level II) this weekend!

I’ve been reflecting on the decision I made six months ago to divide Okuden into two parts. It wasn’t an easy choice. In fact I agonised over it for a long time. It meant asking eager students to slow down, to have to wait and to complete Part 1 and 2 months apart rather than stepping straight into professional practice. It’s never easy to disrupt someone’s plans or expectations.

This weekend’s class is the final class of transitioning students. I’ve already run two Part 1 classes now, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Having experienced the first part, students have felt for themselves just how much is held within this level. The depth of the teachings, the techniques, the conversations, and the need for space to practise, reflect, and connect with one another. So much was packed in the first Part that students couldn’t believe I ever taught the rest in one class!

This morning in this contemplation, I feel like I’m reminded of how important it is to trust our instincts, and to stay in our integrity even when doing so has the potential to create discomfort, disruption or even misunderstanding. Our responsibility is to make decisions from the Highest place of integrity and purest place in our hearts and when we do that, it is enough. And it’s okay if not everyone understands. It’s okay if some feel inconvenienced. That too is part of the path.

I have been lucky, when I first announced this change, thankful all my students expressed full trust in the integrity of my decision and I am so grateful to them for that! It says so much about them. 🥰

I’m so looking forward to welcoming these students today! 🙏🏽✨🤍

As some of you know, I trained as an End of Life Doula as a result of my work with people at the end of life in my Reiki practice. It remains an area of my work that I hold with deep reverence.

Walking alongside someone in the final chapter of their life is a profound privilege. It is a space where love, fear, attachment and release all sit very close together…and where Reiki can offer support on emotional, physical and of course, spiritual levels as someone prepares for the transition back ‘home’.

The aspect of dying spoken about here by Mark Edwards resonates deeply with my own experience, both psychically and through what I have witnessed over the years, and is something many palliative care doctors and nurses will also recognise.

This matters because so many people live with long-held guilt about not being present at the moment a loved one died. That absence is often misunderstood, when in reality it can be part of a much deeper and more loving process.

Classes are filling this year with just 2 places left in the June Level 1 Shoden class and earlier classes booked out. Waiting lists are also available but filling quickly. All classes held in Fitzroy, Melbourne.

If you’re feeling the pull toward something deeper in your life, a practice that promotes overall well being, inner peace, reconnects you to your intuition, and offers a pathway to spiritual, physical, emotional and mental healing…this is your invitation.

Specialising in non-Westernised, traditional Japanese Reiki spiritual and healing practices, this course offer the lesser known aspects of the original system of Reiki, which over time have been adapted or removed from Teaching.

This course may be for you if you want to:

• Reconnect and deepen your relationship with yourself

• Learn hands-on healing to care for yourself, family, friends or pets

• Cultivate emotional balance

• Deepen your self-care

• Explore Reiki as a spiritual path and a way of living with greater intuition, spiritual insight and inner peace.

Whether you are completely new to Reiki or a Western-trained practitioner wanting to reconnect with the original spiritual roots, this course offers a space to experience the depth and subtle power of this practice.

Group sizes are intentionally small for private-style individualised guidance with the benefit of group connection. In-depth teaching of the practices and techniques with plenty of time for questions, discussions, sharing and practice.

Ongoing mentorship is provided following the course as well as access to optional in-person and online Reiki Practice Gatherings, a beautiful community of like-minded people!

Spiritual practice encourages presence and keeping our attention in the moment, rather than the past or future. I have daily practices to nurture this way of being. 🧘🏽‍♀️✨

Unfortunately, there can be unexpected consequences of such practices….like, for example, this Fiddle Fig leaf plant. Isn’t she spectacular?!

I can tell you that this morning it was not on my agenda or even on my wish list to go a buy a new plant today, but here we have it, this new unexpected addition to the living room that somehow happened between finalising one Reiki manual and being halfway through the next! And while I was at it (and being present in the moment 😉) I repotted some of my sadder looking plants.

It feels very satisfying and I’m very pleased with this new purchase! Some may call it procrastination, I’m sticking to my story that i was just being totally ‘spiritual’ and present! 😜🍀🤷🏽‍♀️🙏🏽🤍

Every day I am grateful for the opportunity to offer Reiki and support people on their healing journeys. Whilst there can be tears and deep conversations as people navigate their life paths and healing paths - there is often a lot of laughter too.

These are shared paths of healing and so much of the sessions are about heartfelt human connection.

Because of what I went through to get here, I am never complacent nor take for granted how blessed I feel to be doing this soul work.

And for anyone on their one path…it is worth the struggle, the pain, the tears and the many losses and grief that can come with healing. I also recommend that you find support along the way. Whilst it is in some ways a solo journey, it doesn’t need to be done alone.

Big love! 🙏🏽🤍🥰

This deeply hurts my heart. This is not political, this is about connecting to the most pure part of our essence as loving, empathic, compassionate beings. It is about taking real steps towards healing and it is also about accountability - there can be no true healing without it. 🙏🏽🤍

Reiki nerd alert!! 🔔 🔔 🔔

Some new research has come out that adds more detail to Usui Sensei’s life before Reiki!

It looks like he may have been closely connected to Methodist Christianity, and may have served as the principal of a Methodist-run school in Fukugawa, Tokyo from 1899–1903 with an active interest in the religion at that time. This lines up with his tombstone which mentioned his interest and study of religions!

One of the most interesting details is that for a period he may have gone under a different name, “Suzuki Mikao” (using his wife’s family name), before later returning to Usui again. The why is yet to be answered but this is fascinating to me!!

And then there’s this…

He was eventually dismissed from the role, and the records suggest it was a difficult ending. One would have to imagine this was painful for Usui. When I read that, I immediately thought of what’s written on his memorial stone, that his life did not always go the way he planned - that he had run in difficulty.

How this shaped his life before leading him to study at a zen Buddhist Monetary for a few years and fasting and meditating on Mt Kurama which lead him to his ultimate path of Reiki can only be imagined.

It also makes links this real-life chapter of Usui’s to likely what later shaped the opening of Takata’s story, where she describes Usui as connected to Christianity and leading a school before leaving to search for healing.

Whilst the details aren’t identical, one would have to assume Takata took aspects of his real life and ran with her own version that suited the political and cultural needs of the time given tensions between Japan and the West!
But it feels like there’s a real thread there.

There are still so many questions but this is where history brings the story and the man to life! I’m in total Reiki nerd heaven!! 😂 🙏🏽🤍

Wow, I just found this while cleaning up!! This beautiful little card was dropped into my letterbox by a passer-by a few years ago…

It struck me that they’d firstly enjoyed something I never intended for anyone else. Playing piano in the privacy of my own home is something I do for me, my own creative outlet and really, meditation for me. 🥰

But also… that this kind stranger went to the trouble of going home, writing this card, and coming back to drop it off. It was important to them to let me know they enjoyed listening! It truly made my day to receive this! The act of kindness filled my heart! 🥰🥰🥰

It ties in so beautifully with some of my recent posts, doesn’t it? How the kindness of strangers can deeply touch us, and how simply doing the things we love, the things that make our hearts sing can unexpectedly bring joy to others too!

I guess what this reminds me of is that we all impact each other, in kindness and otherwise. And it’s important we take that to heart and remember that in everything we do! 🙏🏽🤍🥰

This made my heart sing! 🥰

I was walking to Terra Madre for some groceries and stumbled across this beautiful group of men down at their local for a cold beer on a hot 40 degree Melbourne summer’s day, with their shared passion for music, in connection and community with each other, and bringing happiness to all those that passed by!

Such an unexpected joy to stumble across! 🙏🏽🤍🥰

People are often surprised by how physical Reiki can be.

A lot of people think Reiki is mainly for relaxation and calming the nervous system. And yes, it absolutely is! 🙌🏽✨

But after almost 8 years of practising, I’m still in awe of how often it supports the body in very real, tangible ways.

Recently, I worked with someone who had been living with a long-term shoulder issue that had been thoroughly investigated and treated through the usual channels. It had been affecting daily life for a long time. The injury was objectively observable on MRI and after prolonged attempts of various treatments, surgery was marked as the likely next step.

They weren’t interested in focusing on the shoulder during the session, and honestly, I get it. When something has been going on for years, people often stop believing it can truly shift - but even more so that something like Reiki could help shift it. Their preference instead, was to let Reiki work on more of the emotional aspects of self.

But in traditional Japanese Reiki, the physical and emotional are not separate. The body holds everything. Even with a ‘real’ physical injury.

So, with their agreement, I included it as part of the overall treatment.

The next day, they messaged me in excitement (mixed with shock and amazement!) to say the pain was gone and their range of movement had returned fully. They could lift their arm freely again without pain and even tested it out my doing push-up’s which was absolutely not possible prior.

Incredible right?! And just one session!

So now it’s a case of watch and see - it is something we will continue to monitor.

But this is such a powerful reminder that sometimes, when something has been persistent for a long time, adding Reiki alongside your other supports can be the missing piece that helps things finally move.

And I will say, despite seeing these types of fast turn-arounds occur many times over my years of practice, I am delighted every single time and I hope I never stop revelling in such delight!!! It brings me such joy! 🤍🙏🏽
