What Is Family, Really?
“Blood makes you related. Love, respect, and kindness make you family.” – Susette Jarvis

Family isn’t always defined by blood.
It’s defined by love, effort, and the people who choose to stay — even when life gets messy and moments get hard.

True family are those who see your flaws and still stand beside you. They are the ones who listen, who reach out, who try — not because they have to, but because they want to.

Sometimes we hold on to the belief that being family means forgiving endlessly. We keep reaching out, offering olive branches, even extending help through mediation, hoping for peace — only to be met with silence, rejection, anger, hurtful words, demands, or judgement.
Over time, that one-sided effort begins to weigh us down — slowly wearing away the parts of ourselves we’ve fought so hard to heal.

There comes a time when love means letting go.
When self-respect means walking away.
When protecting your peace means choosing distance, not resentment.

And that’s okay. 🫶

You are allowed to walk away from toxic family dynamics.

Rising After Loss
“Grief softens when you learn to see love in what remains.”

Losing the people we love leaves an ache that words can rarely touch. In those moments, the world feels quieter, emptier — as if time itself pauses to honour what once was.
But as I walked through my own seasons of grief, I learned something profound - love never truly leaves us. It changes form. It moves from the physical to the unseen — from the sound of their laughter to the gentle memories that whisper in your heart.

Grief is not a sign of weakness; it’s the depth of your love seeking somewhere to go. In time, it softens — not because you forget, but because you learn to carry love differently. You start to notice it in a song, a scent, a sunset, or in the way your heart quietly expands with gratitude for having loved so deeply at all.
Every memory, every lesson, every shared smile becomes a part of you. Their love continues through your kindness, through your strength, and through the gentle ways you honour their memory.

For far too long, I allowed the words and actions of others to shape how I saw myself. I believed that their love — or their rejection — somehow reflected my value. But the truth is, your worth was never theirs to give or take away. It has always been yours.
Every time someone diminished you, dismissed you, or made you feel small, they were only revealing the limits of their own awareness — not the limits of your value. Healing begins when you stop seeking validation from those who cannot see your light and start honouring the beauty and strength that have always lived within you.
You are not what happened to you. You are who you become through your healing.
Reclaiming your self-worth isn’t about proving anything to anyone — it’s about remembering that you are already enough, already whole, already worthy of love and respect simply because you exist.

My name is Susette Jarvis and I am a fully qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, Counsellor, Mindset Coach, Energy Healer, Reiki Master& teacher, Meridian tapping Practitioner and Quit smoking coach.

​My main aim is helping people to Focus, Heal and Awaken their inner spirit If you suffer from Anxiety, depression or stress and want to learn how to release those inner demons and be stress free, then you have come to the right place! If you want to be free from chronic pain, phobias, habits, addictions or just simply want to learn how to energise the body, and be calm and at peace, and learn to meditate, then you have come to the right place! I am a passionate supporter of people healing themselves and of being provided with the tools that will help them take back control of their life without having to spend hundreds of dollars in order to do so.

Susette’s Story: A victim of bullying and harassment in the workplace which caused me severe anxiety and adjustment disorder, I suffered for over three years with panic attacks, shaking uncontrollably, heart palpitations, sweats and dark thoughts of not wanting to be here. I struggled with stand alone traditional CBT and Counselling.
