For 2026-2027, after a long hiatus (through and post COVID), Qiology has invited Tsuyoshi Shimamura Sensei to Sydney, Australia for the: Te a Te Seminar Series 2026-2027.

Shimamura Sensei was invited to teach in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, Australia, yearly, from 2014-2019, where he not only taught his foundation and advanced curriculum, but several special topics in Japanese acupuncture. He captured the hearts and minds of many Australian acupuncturists with his passion and dedication to excellence in practice, and the open sharing of his privileged knowledge to those with dedication to learn.

Shimamura Sensei has been continually impressed with the passion, enthusiasm, positive attitude and dedication of Australian attendees. Shimamura is continuing to teach in Australia the curriculum he has developed for practitioners and students to learn the unique skillsets he acquired during his apprenticeship with revered acupuncture master- Kiyoshi Nagano Sensei, and throughout his 25+ years of clinical practice in Japan. The core curriculum (outlined on our registration page), is designed to build the skills of the practitioner gradually to a high level of proficiency in the unique diagnostic and treatment methods Shimamura Sensei uses in his clinical approach, that allow him to achieve outstanding clinical results.

Practitioners will marvel at this hands-on treatment approach, which through cross-referencing pulse and abdominal palpation and other methods provides direct feedback on the effectiveness of your treatment in the moment, to guide your treatment process, as patients simultaneously feel and perceive the changes in their body with treatments immediately. Combining this with a unique understanding of the order of treatment according to Qi, Blood and Fluids/Water, this is an extremely clinically effective treatment system that you wish you learned at an undergraduate level!

This seminar series is recommended to practitioners/students who wish to learn a gentle, simple but profound, and clinically effective style of acupuncture that will yield highly effective clinical results, and can be learned and integrated easily and effectively into their practice for immediate clinical results, but will take time to develop and master.

In July/August 2025, Felip Caudet, international moxibustion instructor in the line of transmission of the Fukaya Style of Moxibustion, returns to Australia to conduct the Moxa Mastery Program 2025. This is particularly exciting as in the last 20+ years, less than a handful of world class moxibustion teachers have taught in a continuing professional development capacity within Australia, and the teaching of moxibustion methods and skills at an undergraduate level is severely lacking.

Qiology has taken the initiative to invite Felip Caudet once again to conduct this unique seminar series to “fans the flames” for moxibustion in this country, and raise the standard of moxibustion in Australia.

This seminar series will follow Felip's Invited Keynote Presentations at AACMAC in Brisbane, where he is an invited Keynote speaker, back by popular demand, as he was a celebrated presenter at AACMAC on his first visit to Australia in 2023. We not only have an exciting post-AACMAC workshop we are running in Brisbane, but we are running Felip's foundation program in Sydney, Australia.

If you need some help deciding, we have put this little cheat sheet together to explain succinctly (which is not always our strong point) what the differences in each of the seminars are. On top of that, Felip Caudet, our esteemed presenter from Spain, has put a video together to explain a bit about each seminar too.
But what we will say, is that you have never attended such seminars on Moxibustion like this before, and this will open a whole new world of treatments for you!

Seminar A:
Japanese Moxibustion:
Foundations | Refinement | Development
-Thurs 27th & Fri 28th July 2023

Simply put, this is a Foundations seminar, covering the theoretical and practical methods of Rice Grain (Tonetsukyu) and Heat Perception Cone (Chinetsukyu) Moxibustion, including not only how to correctly perform these moxibustion methods (fashioning cones/grains and applying moxibustion methods), but how to appropriately palpate and search for live points for the 2 differing methods (Superficial and Deep Palpation methods).
Practicing fundamentals is the cornerstone of skill development in East Asian medicine, and therefore this seminar is suitable for all skill levels- beginner to advanced. Beginners will gain solid foundations, and intermediate and advanced will be given skills assessment, and direct guidance to refine and develop and perfect their moxibustion techniques. Special segments on treating soft tissue inflammation and a variety of health conditions will also be covered.

Seminar B:
Foundations of Fukayakyu (Isaburo Fukaya’s Style of Moxibustion)
-Sat 29th & Sun 30th July 2023

Fukaya's Style of Moxibustion is a complete system of treatment, which uses fundamental rules in its application (10 Rules of Fukayakyu). This seminar is considered a special event, as it's the first time this has been taught in Australia (there are other styles of moxibustion that use bamboo tubes that were taught in the past in Australia, but Fukaya's style is its own special method, and is vastly different to other styles, and is extremely powerful in addressing difficult to treat internal disorders).

The Fukaya Style features unique root and branch treatment methods to address a wide variety of internal disorders, and has special diagnostic techniques that are different to other diagnostic methods in East Asian Medicine. This method provides a whole new way to view disease and address imbalances in the body.

The Fundamental/Root Treatment is based on unique visual and palpation diagnostics performed on the posterior thoracic cage where specific tissue changes are perceived and located through palpation, and treatment points are then confirmed with the pressure application of the Takezutsu (Bamboo Tube). Treatment is then performed on the precise live points using special sized large rice grain cones with the assistance of the Bamboo tube. This root treatment method reestablishes proper flow of Qi and Blood to the disordered area, having powerful systemic effects on the body.

After the root treatment is performed, the practitioner then moves to the Branch/Symptomatic Treatment, and selects from several of Fukaya's special treatment points which are located in various locations all over the body to assist the root treatment in affecting change in the body, specific to the relevant condition. In some cases, the Josetsu-ho (Bent String Method) is used to locate secret moxa points.

This seminar teaches the core theoretical and practical foundations of the style, so you can confidently treat patients using Fukaya's Style of Moxibustion to achieve excellence in clinical results. Special segments will cover Digestive, Stress and Gynaecological conditions.

Seminar C:
Foundations of Kinseikyu (Postural Balancing Moxibustion)
-Mon 31st July & Tues 1st August 2023

This seminar is focused on Structural/Postural Balancing, using Moxibustion methods to influence, melt and mould fascia directly.
Posture not only influences the direction/lines of force in the body, the body structure and its functions, but can directly influence the free flow of Qi and Blood. Regulating the structure, regulates function and can have many powerful flow on effects on the total health of the body. By regulating the structure, we can also solve many issues of pain and discomfort.
Through assessment of precise locations in the body where primary postural interruptions are located, and using hands on palpation to determine the left/right balance in the condition of the fascia, we can then know where to apply treatment. Students are taught to visually and manually assess these key areas:

1. Foot/Ankle(Varus|Valgus)
2. Knee
3. Pelvis
4. Diaphragm
5. Head
6. Shoulder/Arm

After assessing the interruptions, treatment is applied in the varying areas of interruption with 3 techniques- Direct Moxibustion, SuperOntake (Bamboo Moxa Warmer) and manual manipulation.
This seminar will equip you with the the foundation theoretical principles of the style, the primary methods of diagnosis (including postural assessment and proprioceptive testing), the moxibustion and manual treatment protocols and methods, and will teach you how to apply them in practice for postural/structural conditions to benefit the correct balance of Qi and Blood flow in the body. You will be provided with hands on time with the instructor to make sure you are performing the methods correctly.
Your clinical results in practice after applying what you learned in this seminar will truly reveal the power of this unique style of moxibustion!
